Question License plate mounting,again!!

Still having trouble mounting the license plate. The bumper is 3" below the bed.Using the stocklight/license bracket the plate hits the bed,and sticks out beyond the fender.I can cut the bumper to make it lower but you cannot see the license properly.(unable to get a picture on).Pictures of what you have done would help.

I take it this is for your 49... they didn't have rear bumpers as stock apps so you'll be looking for a creative way to mount your plate. Nothing stock will do it.

Life's too short. If the cops want to pull me over and complain, let em do it. I imagine your only other option is to just bolt it to the bumper itself.

The rear bumper does cover up the license plate on 48-52 trucks.

I like that option. If they slap my wrist, I'll put mine there too.

Just make sure you've got a light on it. If not, that's one more reason for the coppers to give you a bad time. They look for any excuse, and no license plate light is a common one.

I couldn't make myself put one on the front - though technically that's the law here in Texas. Has anyone else skipped the front plate - encounter any problems from the police? I don't want to get hassled. I deleted the back bumper on my 1950 so I've got no issues on the back.

No plate required here in AZ, I would hate it with one on the front even though I have a YOM pair of plates...

Why did you take the bumper off the rear of yours, Ben? I'm trying to decide between a roll pan or rear bumper.

Hey Moe,
Mine came sort of hacked up in the back with a
homemade trailer hitch & no bumper. I looked at it with both a
bumper & without - just stayed with the bumperless look. I think it's a little cleaner - I really didn't want to cut the front frame horns off but I did.

Before & after pics..

You can't see it in the picture but mine does have a tag light which is required by state inspection here but it is located at the bottom of the plate behind the bumper.

State law also mandates a front plate in NH. I made my own bracket for that and clamped it to the top edge of the front bumper using fog lamp brackets so that I would not have to drill holes in the polished SS bumper.
