Waz happening everyone... I was a member years back when I was restoring my F150 (so long ago, that my log in details werent valid- or I just plain forgot them) Well now she is in the paint shop after a few months of me blocking everything straight. Right now, I have a frame mount class 3 hitch and a bardon bumper. I want to get rid of the bumper and put on a contour/style side type. I've done a ton of research on those rare bumper brackets. Can someone tell me if there would be a problem using the 72' brackets? Aside from drilling more holes, do they not contour to the inside of the 73+ bumper?
i found the reproduction 72 rear bumper brackets as well. is there any reason why they wouldnt work? the bumpers are the same so i dont see what they wouldnt be. im bout to do the same thing but dont want to waste 129 bucks for something that wont work.

The bumpers are the same but the early frames are narrower in the back. By deduction, the brackets will have to dimensionally different. It's possible to section the brackets to account for Dent's wider frame.
The bumper brackets were 100 and bumper was 180. They told me its pretty much plug and play. I will bump this thread when i get them and install. The price is a bit steep but i really wanted to get rid of the 100 pound sled hanging off the back. Not sure why a 72 and earlier bracket wont work, but blue oval said they are the only ones that reproduce the style side brackets for 73 +
Correction.. I thought yall were referring to using Bump brackets............
Sheez.... BOTP has some crappy pics:
The issue with the above is there doesn't appear to be any lateral bracket to reinforce the outer end of the bumper... just like the front bumper where any impact will bend and crease right at the bumper bolt.
sorry for kind of hijacking your thread. but my question is will a bumper with 36.5 inch mounting holes still work on this truck with a 37.5 in width? i think im going to order these and see if they work. if they dont, then ive got a good template to start fabricating a set from.
