I just installed a Pioneer double din stereo. When I turn the key to the run position, the stereo boots up. Once the wait to start indicator goes out, I roll the key to start the motor and the stereo turns off. After I release the key back to the run position the stereo reboots. Is this normal or should I have continuous voltage through the start position?
Mines acts the same way, I to installed a double din. The time lapse for it to shut off without opening door, is 10 minutes. And that is with key off. The electric Windows will also work for 10 minutes.
Yes, it will stay on for 10 minutes or until a door is opened. That is the same as the factory stereo.
I just thought it was odd that it would turn off while cranking the motor. This stereo takes about 10 to 15 seconds to boot up, so it does it twice when I start the truck.
Same as mine. When you turn the key to start, it closes all out side power draw to supply power the the starting system. Then the stereo and other systems reboot. Mine takes the same amount of time. All is good. I wish mine would reboot quicker but it is what it is.
Smart phones and stereos should be called dummy systems. When I was growing up I had 20 or 30 phone numbers and addresses in my head at all time. Now I'm lucky if I can rattle off 2. The new world of idiots.
Fun Fun.
No kidding, I'm in the same boat. Could you imagine having unlimited information at your fingertips as a kid?
I can barely remember what it was like to find an answer to a problem pre internet.
