My '10 is running great and never fails to start but I'm a little concerned with my ignition switch. Sometimes I have to wiggle the key to get it to start. I've gotten used to it and its actually easier if I put the key in with the Ford logo facing me. Its not a terrible inconvenience, but it seems like it might be the first signs of the ignition switch going TU.
Has anybody else experienced this? Do I need to replace the switch before I get stranded?
Thanks for your help,
Gator
What do you mean by "Sometimes I have to wiggle the key to get it to start."? Does that mean you need to wiggle it to get it to rotate in the first place or do you mean you have to wiggle it once the ignition key has been rotated into the START position? Same for the statement regarding the orientation of the key.
If you have to wiggle the key or insert it only in one direction to get it to rotate, then you probably have an ignition cylinder or a worn key issue, probably wear-related.
I should have clarified. The key turns fine, but once it is in the start position it needs to be wiggled a bit to actually start. Its a very specific wiggle too, not just some random sloppy business. If I pull the top of the key back towards me it starts just fine but nothing else works.
Thanks for the input everyone,
