If another Triax impressions, emotions, review, addiction, dream, obsession, whatever thread is created, this would without a doubt would be the theme song... Don't temp me to create another parody video... We all know what happened when Wesley threw down the gauntlet last time!
Sous I made it over to tractor supply and I took these 2 pictures of oil on the same shelf:
Not sure which one is up to date but they both have the Volvo spec so I guess I was mistaken on that.

Thank you for following up! I drove by TSC on Saturday when I was going to pick up some junk tires to sink in the pond, but didn't stop to check out the bottles. A friend of mine in TX that was following this thread sent me an image of a 5 gallon pail he bought several months ago with the Ford and Volvo certifications. I didn't post the image here though as there was a chance you were right.
Again, thank you for following up sir, I and many others appreciate your contributions to the thread and the community as a whole.
I managed to pick up my dose of Triax 15w40 and half dose of 5w40 along with a bonus dose of XDP fuel treatment from a local seller that no longer needed any of it.
I was planning to go with the half dose of 5w40 along with Rotella T6 5w40, but jstihl suggested I go straight to the Triax FS 15w40 in order to give it an honest shot. I agreed that his method was a better course of action and the one I would be taking. Then, I would run the 5w40 through and then I would make a decision as to going with Triax Xw40 or TSC with a possible booster shot of OptiLube StictionRX.
I was texting with a friend of mine in OK yesterday about this very subject and he thinks I will really like the Triax. I told him I am absolutely going to give it an honest shot and make a decision after running at least 5,000 miles with Triax in the oil pan.
Here is my score of Triax and XPD from the local seller. I managed to do him a favor by getting it off his garage floor and me a favor by getting a great cash deal on it.

The VDS 4.5 is the newest specification and from our friends at Triax, the standard of all standards.. Also, the CK4 photo shows the ford specification. This stuff appears to fine to use and it just went on SALE. I run the stuff for 3000 miles and for a little over $40 dollars for an oil change, the motor is clean and happy. Also, the oil it not pitch black as when I ran the expensive stuff out to 5000+ miles. From some older research, this appears to Martin Lubricants Xtreme Fleet oil. Very similar to WM supertech from Warren and Napa oil from Valvoline. Just good basic oil that I would not run out extended miles, but still protects your engine just fine.

I ran both TSC oil as well as Supertech under "severe" use, by their definition. They both performed well according to a UOA and I would not hesitate to use them again if I had to. I just didn't like the gas engine rating added to it and decided to give the Triax a run, but the Travelers is not a bad oil at all. I ran mine out to 5000 miles before doing the oil analysis and it came out stellar.
We have been through the "gasoline oil" rating before in another thread here: CK vs CJ oil
I may be mistaken because I don't know for sure what BBSlider001 meant, but the "gasoline oil" he referred to above is probably pertaining to the API rating of SN as seen in the image below. Coincidentally one of the bottles was bought and pictured by cclgeo, who also posted just above. Thank you for that sir, we do appreciate it and your efforts to provide factual information to the community.
The meat and potatoes in the long and drawn out thread riddled with rants and facts is that the API SN rating is what sets the amount of ZDDP to 800ppm or less, among other things. Although, the newer CK-4/Ford WSS-W2C171-F1/Volvo VDS 4.5 rated TSC does NOT have the API SN rating as seen below in the image provided by ArmyLifer. Believe what you want to believe about the oils out there, but I am going to go by what is printed, published and verifiable by the manufactures of the various oils and institutions/manufacturers such as the API, PQIA, Ford and Volvo.
Bottom line is run whatever makes you happy, just be able to wade through the BS and misinformation of internet lore in order to make an informed decision about your choice of oils.
Did an oil change with Triax Fleet Supreme 15w40 last night,, including the hpop reservoir because I wanted to hear a difference right away if there was one. When I started the truck it was noticeably quieter. It made so much of a difference that I had to check my hydra and make sure it wasn't in the quiet tune. I would describe it as sounding a bit more like a stock truck with split shot injectors. Drove around a lot today and it seemed that the truck might have a slight bit better throttle response. I can't really attribute everything to triax though as she was in need of an oil change. Might have just been the fact that it was new oil.

Very good news! Please keep us updated as the oil wears in a bit and as the miles click over.
This is the same oil (FS 15w40) I will be putting in my engine in April prior to our cross country trip towing a 5th wheel.
That should give a fair shack and trial run to the Triax in my opinion. Then, I can make an informed choice based on FTE testimony 1st hand personal experience.

Thanks Sous, you are correct, I was a part of some earlier conversations about traveller oil.. i thought i found gold,, but according to the group, the CJ4/SN was not good. So i returned it and got the CK4 without the SN. That is what I have been running and the injectors love it so far. So, I agree with you, the oil i buy from now on will not have the SN in the circle. That is becoming hard to find as most of the big oil providers have changed, but rotella is standing strong with just CK4 rated oil as well as the travellers. Im sure there are other over the counter oils vs exotic ship to door type oils like Triax and Shaeffer that are just CK4 rated (no SN), but very limited at the big parts stores from what I have seen.

Really my biggest reason to TRY Triax was the old school formulations of yore with MolyB and Boron and the other additives. It was very simply a numbers thing for me. Am I happy? Sure, I like it. Will my truck run 100k more trouble free miles than a 7.3 without it? I kinda doubt it. Run what ya like and EFF the rest really. It's just oil...and a work truck.....rubber and metal. That's what I tell myself anyway. Cheers!
