Did you just run heavier wire to the stock light socket or did you go with a quality aftermarket 9007 connector? I'm not seeing any online that I feel would be quality versions of them. If you upgraded them can you share a link? Thanks
very late response here, but i have been happy with the dorman sockets i have used in various applications. The 16ga wire is fine for the under 6in from my harness to the bulb.

Thank you. Cody over at Bright Box was able to come through last minute, and his products went in very easily. They made a very noticeable difference in my lighting but after replacing just one of my driving light lenses and comparing it to the other I'm really seeing just how bad my lights are faded and crazed. It's time to replace the remainder of the light assemblies on the truck and I think that will only help with the light output as well.

...and the weather is finally warming up, so I'd like to do this conversion before a long trip in April.

Current good sources for the headlights and header? I'll replace the whole shbang versus cutting away at the stock one.

Thanks!

I had good luck with Cody at . He's a typical hard-working small American company, and came through in a pinch for me. His products were completely plug and play. I'd recommend him and his products vs cutting up your stock harness. The parts in his harness are quality pieces, and would be difficult at best to source in today's "Chinese everything" market. Thanks for the refernce Tom.

I'm looking more for referals for the stock pieces, like the headlight assemblies, pigtails, and header panel. I already have a relayed wiring harness installed so I have no issues with re-pinning that for a different plug.

Tried Rock Auto.

Parts: $201.58
Cheapest shipping option: $229.99

(They actually offer a "next day 9:00AM" shipping for $1,441.99, :lol

"Hard pass" on that one, Maverick.

And done. That wasn't hateful.

Given the costs for shipping a header, I elected to mod the stock one. Bought the headlights from 1A Auto, "Eagle Eyes".

Armed with these photos I marked it out with a Sharpie and used an air cut-off saw to make quick work of the Fiberglas. Then bolt up and go. Probably took two hours, including a beer break. For the upper hardware, I used some M6 rivnuts into the header and bolts/washers.

And it looks so much better.

I'm a bit underwhelmed with the amount of light it seem to be putting out, but I'll see how well it works out on my trip next week.

If anyone wants some
Fahren LED bulbs Fahren LED bulbs
to install in the stock '01 headlights - or even the old headlights/markers - PM me with a lowball offer. I bought and installed them this past January.

Great info, thanks everyone.

Yep. Headlights have been relayed directly to the battery for some time now.

Feeback...my experience is similar to FlyBoy's post #9 above. A wide flood of light, wide enough to cover road edges and the shoulders to watch for critters. Depth is a good 3-5 seconds' ahead at 65mph. Strong bounce off any reflective materials farther out than that, like road signs.

My light color is not as white as FlyBoy's, despite being relayed. Did I miss where bulbs wre changed, or are they still incandescent? Maybe the relay kit I installed forever ago needs an upgrade.

And do I understand from the above post that the LEDs I removed from the '01 headlights will swap into the foglamps?

Pleased with the mod.

Does anyone need my lamps and markers I removed? Toss me whatever the shipping costs are and you can have them. The headlamps were replaced with new from 1A Auto probably 5 years ago so not clouded up.

that’s more phone effect than anything, my lights are still yellow, maybe a bit more white than normal, but still Yellow. 3400k is the color.

philips xtremevision or something like. I only got them because they were 9.00/pair on clearance ! They aren’t overdriven like silver stars instead are just a highly optimized filament so no reduction in useful life when compared to a “standard” bulb.

i had to look up what i had because i couldn’t remember! They have been in since i installed the 05+ housing a few years ago now
