That's the Red River, isn't it? I don't know what's worse to clean up after, a flood or a tornado.
I see the concrete buckled up. You're suppose to open the tanks and let them fill with water when they're going to be under water.
Yes, the Red River. Clay City is surrounded by an Oxbow. You can launch a canoe, paddle over three miles, and then walk about 400 yards back to your car. (Edit: more like 500 yards.)
The BP station burned down several years ago. There was no one to manage the tanks. Now that they're up the EPA will get involved. The owners will have to remove them and do ground sampling. I don't think you can insure a business that no longer exists. This is going to get expensive.
I was down there back around Thanksgiving time. I had a job at Red River Ranch that day.
Buddy of mine used to drive for them!
I'm surviving, made it through the flooding in Magoffin Co., without any issue save for some underpinning knocked down on my home. (Flood was within 6" of getting into my home)
My mother in law passed passed away 2-24-2021. and we just now got to bury her today, 3-4-2021 due to all the flooding, etc.
Sorry to hear about your Mother-in-Law Wes.You have my condolences and prayers.
Glad the water didn't get your house. I can remember back in 1997 when the Licking River flooded in Falmouth. That was a horrible experience. Like I said earlier, I don't know what's worse to clean up from, a flood or a tornado.
That's a good video Ken. Somebody posted pictures of the Falmouth Flood from 1997 on FB earlier this week on the anniversary of that flood. Looked the same. Devastation all around.
