I read that a leaky windshield causes a lot of electrical problems, and my truck obviously leaks, and has a ton of electrical gremlins. I decided to get a new windshield and then do the fuse panel/gem module. Took me 16 hours to get to the mainland and back today, our ferry system is not functioning well. They removed the old glass and found the upper sill was rusted away. I had to leave it for a body guy to repair, and drive a loaner car home. Is this a common issue with the superduper duties? all ford trucks from 99 up? Not much choice now, I need to get it fixed.
As Mark said above, not common but it does happen. You are doing the right thing by having the repair done to the cab/body before installing a new windshield.
Did you already replace the GEM and fuse panel? If not, sometimes they can be removed and cleaned and still function as designed for many years. If you have not replaced them already, check out the Tech Folder on the main forum page as a sticky thread. I "think" there are teardowns of the GEM at the very least in there.
If you have replaced them, you could possibly clean and repair the old ones and sell as used/repaired by you devices if you feel the desire.

I have not done anything with the fuse/gem yet. Thanks for this, I will be visiting that tech page again.
