Dash Paint Peeling

Just picked up a 2003 F150 Extended Cab. Awesome truck, 229, 000 miles and it drives like a new vehicle. Biggest problem I see, the dash was molded in Black, and then died a brown color, and the brown is peeling off !!! Can anyone recommend a good plastic paint or dye, and besides a heavy scrubbing with Dawn, any other prep needed before painting. Thank ya'all !!!!

Use SEM adhesion promoter and their dye. They used to carry the Ford color for the dash. This has been a issue since these trucks were new.

On my 2013 SD my door panels where badly sun faded, I cleaned them with alcohol and painted them with base coat and matted finish clear coat. I changed color because I couldn't match the rest of the door panel.

What name brand paint did you use ? Your door panels look beautiful. I will probably be repainting both door panels, the dash, and rear suicide door panels. Very dried out and ugly fro sun damage. Thanks !!!!

A friend of mine has a body shop, he mixed it and I took it home ans shot it but any name brand would work. The most important thing is to get it clean, my 03 F150 is also needing the door panels done but I want to match the color on them.

Thanks for posting, my dash is peeling as well on my 2003 with 110k miles, the door panels are faded as well. I wonder if the door panel fade is due to overspray when cleaning the windows.

The fade is from the sun also know as UF damage. I went with automotive paint because of the protection it gives from the sun and it's more durable than the dye.
