I wasn't going to stick my nose in this conversation cause anytime I stick my toe into Sous's pond, I end up with an empty wallet. But I can't resist the subject.....31 ft Crossroads 5'vr, 11k at the Tires, and I had 2 out of 4 China Bombs Detonate, 1 on each side on Cabbage Hill, I 84 thru Oregon to Boise ID. Needless to say, it was a Come to Jesus Moment . I don't care what anyone says, I put G code Bridgestones all the way around and never looked back. I'm never gonna cheap out on my family's safety again. They weren't cheap, but Costco had them for around 300$ apiece. Those sidewalls might as well be stone. They don't move.....at all.
Those were not available yet when I last had a camper - but if they were, that’s what I would have run. Both my last campers had 3 axles....

@coax9952 , I read this a couple of times and am not sure what to make of it. I hope that what I post or convey does not steer you in a direction you are not comfortable with. I try not to push people to make a decision, I try to relay the information and choices so they can make a decision based on their application.
Everything I post publicly, write via PM or text message, I would absolutely, 100% say to you looking you (or anyone else) in the eyes. I am not an internet tough guy, I am not even a real tough guy. I make mistakes at times and will admit that when they happen. If we cannot laugh at our own mistakes, then the journey of life is not much fun.
I try to post what I learn via trusted sources (internet or personal) and from my own experiences in an effort to have you or anyone else interested learn through my mistakes or experiences. This is why I post charts, graphs and documentation with the source so people can go see for themselves if they choose.
I would and do much rather prefer to learn from others than to learn the hard way for myself. This us not always the case and I make silly calls like an HPx or TurboMaster wastegate controller.
Oh well, I learned my lesson...
Trust but verify is paramount when taking action based on what someone said on the internet one time...
As for that stretch of I-84, I have been on that several times since we have family in Boise. I am glad to hear other than your shorts, tires and emotions there was no damage. You got lucky!
I had not heard of or seen the Bridgestone tires, do you have a model or series name you can share with us? Having more choices is almost always better than having less, almost...
Cost is irrelevant when considering safety. Things like stereos, TV's and rims can be negotiated internally based on cost vs. value, but not safety. If you are confident with your decision, I commend you for going the extra mile to reach that point. Perhaps someone will reach that level of confidence based on your advice.
I just looked and didn’t find any domestic 15” 12/14ply ST tires yet...
I may run the china tires on my car trailer to try them. It’s getting hard to find take off 15” LT tires these days.
You won't, which is why a lot of folks switch to 16" which sometimes requires a lift. Some people have started using LT tires on trailers and in fact some Airstream trailers come with Michelin LT tires, The whole thing is confusing to say the least as ST tires are specially designed to handle the sideways dragging movement which causes interply shear.

Except for my last (2) campers, I’ve run nothing but LT tires on trailers for over 20yrs. All brands. Not a single ‘interply shear’ failure yet. My car trailers and my old 32ft deck over never make it through tread life before getting damaged or dry rotting. The last set I bought for the car trailer were ‘like new’ Michelin’s for $240/4 mounted. Can’t tell tread has been worn on the (2) remaining but the weather checking does not inspire confidence. The other (2) were destroyed in separate incidents.
Ill either throw some junkyard 16” wheels on that trailer and keep running takeoff LT’s or will consider some chinesey 12/14ply tires.
on edit: my ski boat also needs tires. It typically goes 10 miles each way to the lake - but needs to ready for a 2000 mile trip if I got the urge.

No No No......That was not my intent at all! (I guess I need to start putting smiley faces on my Posts). Ya'll are the LAST people I would throw shade at on any of these subjects.... I was reacting to the Posts cause I had the afore mentioned " Come to Jesus Moment" and my recent experience swapping accelerator pedals, I had a minor PSM attack .... and Yes, I will post descriptions and Pics soon. I apologize to all I confused.

The misinterpretation was most definitely on my end and I realize that the true emotion and message can sometimes be lost in the words/text.
Again, I am grateful your China bomb experience was not worse than it was. Travel safe and have fun sir.
Frankly, I thought it was one of my Propane tanks letting go, it was that loud....We still had some control coming to a stop, but it was heart stopper for sure. My RV came from the dealer with TowMaxx tires on it, and after lurking around the various RV forums I discovered that Tire discussions are the same as our Oil Discussions.... chaotic and never ending. Alot of research later, I found that Choosing tires depended alot on, as we already know, what we use them for.....The more weight you're putting on them the codes go up (C,D,E,F,G) along with the Air pressures you run in them. This rule goes for your trucks too. If you're towing heavy, 9K and over, if you've got C,D, code tires on your truck, you can't put enough air in them to get the rims off of the ground....E,F&G tires have alot stiffer sidewalls and holds higher Air levels. 70-110lbs. The problem with the Chinabombs is, they say they have 6-8plys in the sidewalls and you can run them with 80lbs in some of them. I call BS. Mine blew out the sidewalls, after a Ply separation . the sidewalls were only 3/8" Thick. I went to Costco, and looked at Bridgestone Duravis R250's, 235/85/16. They had a cross section chunk of one I looked at, The sidewall on that thing was almost 9/16" thick! I was sold....Granted, I went with the biggest and Baddest thing available, but I was shell shocked, and I didn't care about cost at that point. I also noted that there was several other Brands that were favorites of the hardcore haulers. Saun was a hit with many folks, Michelin was good, but people had the opinion that the mileage was not as good because the rubber was softer. Then the debate goes sideways and all the other brands were brought up and either touted or shot down for various reasons. I did note however that Carlisle was soundly in the bottom of the pile. Good for light duty weekend trash hauling, and car trailers, but not if you're hauling any weight. Any way, That's my rant and I'm sticking to it.......(oh yeah,
Well not much of a tow but hopefully time to start making money and stop spending so much, Couldn’t even tell it was back there, hahaha, wait no really.
Towed by Yellowstone today. Kate took this picture from the Subaru. We had thoughts of turning into the park, but with no reservations and already being away from home for over a month we pressed on.
I recently came across this old pic of my dually and last 5ver. I was dragging my ‘home away from home’ up to 30k miles/year to work all over the country in every kind of weather, including chaining up to cross snowy mountain passes out west.
I never saw another camper with chains on the tires...
I think this was somewhere in Idaho in early January and IIRC was about the last time I saw the sun shine until June. (I was on the way to Seattle).
Figured I’d post this here too. Rescue mission to recover my buddy’s truck. Towed this 1100 miles. Trailer is a 35ft 7 ton with 17.5” wheels and the F250 is riding on 46” tall tires. We’re gonna call this about 26k lbs gross for legal reasons.
I was able to pull this as fast as I wanted to go and the truck didn’t care about climbing grades, etc. EGT topped out at 1250* for brief stints, but generally stayed around 1000* while rolling. Bitterroot 238/100’s and T4/S366.
