Sorry for a possibly stupid comment...
Is it possible to run just one alternator? I’m thinking a different belt just for the single setup. It seems you said the load from them made a change.
Or since they both turn freely possibly just disconnect (and tape up) the wiring from them one at a time to see if there’s a change. Double alts can be a good thing but they could also be hiding an issue with one of them.
Just a thought and it’s free to try the disconnect.
No stupid questions here, I appreciate the input 👍. I have tried single alternator belts and several dual alternator belts with no luck and have tried unplugging them. I do have a lower alternator DTC right now and have had both upper and lower alternator dtcs in the past because I am not receiving over 12 volts from the PCM. Just getting 11.5 from pcm. just going to have to bite the bullet and send the PCM to Jonathan for testing. Also thought about sending the IDM in as well since the truck is going to be down for a little while might as well make sure both of them are good. I have heard that wheel well is a real pain in the butt to get out though LOL. Can't be any worse than up pipes I guess 😁
@jstihl any updates on this thread for your idle surge and alternator P1105 issue?
progress on the truck slowed down when it started getting super hot here in Florida . I will be getting back at it when it starts cooling off at night here in another month or so. I will say switching to triax 15w-40 and then to triax 5w40 has made a considerable difference in idle fluctuations but it is still there. Every once in a while the truck will completely cut off when stopped at idle . Still thinking of sending pcm to Johnathan at deiseltechchat. Bwst are you still getting the same p1105 code?
Recently an FTE'r was having some stumbling and stalling issues when the truck was coming to stop. While replacing his IPR and ICP again, he noticed the EOT sensor harness side was broken. He ziptied it together and all has been well since.
Another FTE'r had a stumble at idle only when warm. His BIL bought the truck and found one of the injector cups was leaking and possibly causing the ignition sequence to be interrupted by the coolant. Also, his EOT was providing erroneous readings via FORScan and was replaced.
I am not saying your issue is any of these noted above, but just some details observed over the past few months from other FTE'rs.

thanks sous, I will definitely check the eot harness, and keep an eye on EOT through forscan. It's rather odd, only happens every couple of months. Have a bunch of projects coming up for the truck soon and this is one of them
