Well, the original theory (by kwikkordead) is that the quick disconnect fittings entrain air into the fuel when it is under suction instead of positive pressure. That theory has since been heavily disputed.

Also, the fact that I have now converted everything to AN fittings makes it kind of moot. Plus the fact that I really enjoy dropping the fuel tank on a regular basis...........NOT.

I think the in-tank pump is best if cooled by fuel constantly. And with normal driving it will typically be sloshed and thus cooled with even minimal fuel volumes. OEMs like Ford and Chevy do this for a reason. They need to service these things under warranty and they are not wrong from the 40k foot perpective.

But for me... nah dude! Put the pump on the rail where *you* can get at it by the side of the road! It's your truck now and Ford will not help you replace that pump.

thanks for the explanation on the intank pump. pretty sure i will not do this as i have a serious dislike for doing anything more then once!

On a good note i did get my Hutch/Harpoon mods finished, had a heck of a time getting the sensor ring to screw back on, I tried everything ( tongue to the left , tongue to the right) finally just the right amount of cussing it went on !

I can tell already the injectors are quieter ( i guess the broken off foot was being sucked back into the fuel stream and causing blockage) I will run a pressure test as i get more time!
But for the moment back to work gotta pay for my upcoming hunts!

Good job. As for that ring that holds the pickup in the tank, ain't that a PITA? I find that looking for the start of the thread on the ring and lining that up with the start of the thread on the tank, then tapping the ring on gently making sure it is even all the way around until the threads are in engagement position helps somewhat. Can you tell I've done it more than once?

LMAO yea i had a time getting it to line up and sit /start evenly, pretty much did what you explained, I hope to not need to do it again for a long time !

I also think i may want to drop some new injectors in some time, I will save for new ones! sitting at 252k and god only knows how long this thing has been run with low fuel pressure

No idea on Joey. I just needed a pic of a box from Clay and that popped up on a search.

For future reference warming up the plastic ring helps get it started ie: place in sun on a hot day, put it in the oven, warm it up with a heat gun etc.
