gotcha, makes sense. I did go check on the truck at lunch and noticed my HPOP resi is empty again. I just replaced the LPOP and that was the reason it wouldn’t start last time
im using a scan gauge for now.
if the reservoir keeps emptying that would be a good place to start. Several things can cause this , pretty sure there is a check valve ball on stock hpop but I think you said you have replaced the hpop with something else other than stock? Maybe some others will chime in on where the oil could be draining to.
Disconnecting the icp causes the pcm to see a 2200 pressure. It doesn't actually have that pressure.
This may have already been said. Use only motorcraft sensors on your 7.3.
My vote is check valve for the hpop reservoir is allowing it to leak down.
Scan guage is fine to diagnose low icp. It plugs in and its easy. you need to know is will the hpo reservoir stay full overnight. And with icp plugged in will it build pressure to start.
She started!!! I think it just had a LOT of air in the system. I’ll see if she starts tomorrow. Let it idle for 20-30 min, man what a smoke show and it ran like **** but that’s to be expected lol

just make sure you check the resavoir before you start it tomorrow. With all that cranking you were doing the resavoir shouldn't have leaked down but if its still full tomorrow you should be fine
Congrats. Whenever I have to open the hpo system I crank it till I get pressure on the gauge cluster, then give the starter a break, and repeat. If I don't get at least some chugging or clattering by 3rd time, I missed something and time to check my work.
Thanks guys, yep I will order a IPR from Riffraff and get that **** one out of there. I plan to test drive it today. My EGT stuff hasnt come in yet which has me a little worried, I hope I dont melt the thing down but I will drive it on a daily tune and avoid full throttle.
Took it for a test drive and it was all bad. Hit the throttle in park it will rev, under load it won’t do ****. It takes 5-10 seconds to make it move. Once I was moving it would die coming to a stop everytime.

Are you sure you have the proper tunes loaded for the injectors? If yes then we start where we always do, ICP, IPR DC%, fuel psi. So in gear the engine won't build rpm? Do you have any way to read your torque converter slip? Could it be locked up causing motor to lug on take off and die on stops.
If i remember right you drove the truck quite a bit after you bought it. Some of it loaded, and one pretty good distances. What did the truck start doing when you first noticed issues?.
When it was stock, it was slow and sometimes idled like ****. It was tired and probably the 3 original 387k mile injectors were playing a role in that but I towed a 6k lb jeep on the 16ft flatbed over the sierras without issue.
The first issue I had was the no start. I threw parts at it knowing I wanted to upgrade anyways. I put a new IPR in it, nothing. Ordered a Stage 2 CNC Fab HPOP, nothing then I did a Melling LPOP and that fixed it. Then it started and ran again. Still didn't run great, but not horrible, it moved but slowly, I figured it was tired and its empty weight is 11k. Knowing it was tired and had a questionable history with the previous owner I went to do some mods and thats when I did the tear down, Cups, 180/30 FFD injectors T4 SXE364.5 glow plugs, 1023 PHP tunes etc. Now today the thing sucks and barely moves with throttle and smokes like a mother ****er

I feel your pain, been through a couple love/hate spells myself. Had a chance to scan for codes or gather data yet? With the list of new parts you've got to be close to the finish line.
I Spoke to 1023 diesel and they said to pull the chip, they want to determine where I should start, chip related or mechanical related. I told them without the chip it would be an OEM Split shot tune with single shot injectors and he said even with that it wouldnt run as bad as your describing if it is chip related so I will pull it and give it a try.

Thats a good idea. cant remember if this was already mentioned or not but did you inspect the icp and ipr pigtails? i know your pcm is seeing the signals but its free to check and its somewhat common that they go bad. there was another guy on here a few months back that had the same issues that your having . Anyways we ruled out the IPR because he said he already replaced it, but after going in circles with it he tried a different IPR and it fired right up. Something to keep in mind, ya just never know...... I am beginning to be a little leary of some of these motorcraft parts on amazon. There have been a few instances where the part was bad out of the box, myself included. let us know how she runs without the chip

Hope it runs better than mine does without tuning. That is unpleasant, lopes like top fuel dragster at idle, and almost no throttle control while driving. It was either bat out of hell or the man boobie jiggle
