Haven't made it past '16. Are you re-motoring?
My plan is to use the complete drive train from the 96 ,just have to figure out what I'm doing for the front cross member to maintain the track width..

So clarify if you would. I thought I got to the bottom of your 56 thread & last post (that I could see) was Feb 20 & everything looked complete with a 5.8/carb/AOD.

The 96 is donating a 5.8/E4 & operating system? I'm confused.

Got it, I saw that one & thought you had a much better starting point than the previous truck. I should just hit subscribe more often to keep up with builds in the older forums.

Your metal work is really something else.

So what you want to do? Without an auto, stock EFI is good for 300 easy & there's a few tricks for keeping the computer happy.

Stinger makes a nice EEC replacement that plugs in the factory location/wiring & is user friendly.

Or you could go full aftermarket Holley/FAST/Accel, etc. if you want to go SEFI over the stock batch-fire.

Thanks Dave, Mike. I was planning to keep it stock the way it came from the factory for my type of driving. It will be basically a pleasure cruiser like the others. hoped to be able to clean up the appearance so it doesn't look so cluttered. What I had envisioned is exactly the what your engine looks like. I need to be guided on what doesn't need to be there and still run good.. On this one there is what I figure is the pollution pump below the alternator that no longer has a pulley on it so would like to eliminate that and all that goes with it. It's hard to no the true mileage on the truck because at some point the cab had been switched with a previous year 95 F250 cab ,odometer is reading 347,000 kilometers ( 216,000 miles) drive train is and frame is 96 F350 5.8 liter, 5 speed manual OD ,DRW

Living in the OBS world means decluttering & modding & when you're done nobody can tell or notice.

A 96 with 95 cab... oh boy. Are you familiar at all with this gen under the hood & some of the control elements?

TAD, TAB, EGR, ECT IAC & so forth?

Do you know (where) if the self test connector for the On Board Diagnostics made the change?

I don't have the foggiest about them to tell you the truth, all I can say is it runs real nice but loud with the rusted out muffler...lol
Was there a difference between the two years as far as all you mentioned..?
This truck was from a logging company, I have no idea what they did to it..

Tell you what. I'll teach EEC-IV basics here & when you get some of that down, we'll let you bump up a thread in 87-96 about your project.

Or we could do it here or by PM. Either way, post a good above shot of the engine compartment & I can see what's there to deal with & maybe mark it up for you so you'll have an idea.

You're a competent individual, I've seen your dedication. May not be a walk in the park, but you can do it.

I'll brush the snow off and see if I can get the pictures tomorrow. I won't be digging into that truck likely until next summer. I have no room in my shop with the 2 parked in there for the winter. It's kind of in the research months now...lol I do appreciate your willingness to help. I know the first thing I want to do is a compression test then decide if I'll need to take it in to a machine shop. Likely should anyway with the amount of miles on it..lol

Snow.... Yeeesssshhh! I hate cold. The one-two inches we get on average per year screws everybody up here.

We get 6, or a coating of ice & the populace looses it's mind. First 40s tomorrow night.

Just whenever on the pic & we'll ID what's what.

I did take other pics when I got it home but nothing really straight down looking at it..

Wish we only got 6 inches max a year here, more in the neighborhood of 3-4 feet, love when spring arrives...lol

Over half that junk is the air injection system that is necessary to lower emissions for the first 5 minuets or less when the engine is cranked & dead cold.

A modern cat (designed/built in last decade) will take care of the majority of that now and you can ditch it. A lot of that stuff is EFI specific & just "truck" engineering.

Some of it, for reasons known only to Ford, is "heavy duty" design where they just played "lets just change/move this" from here to there.

When you get to the 250/350 & up variations, it's like Heinz 57 varieties for the emissions equipment even though they all work exactly the same.
