I have a 2014 f350 with headlight issues that i'm trying to troubleshoot. Low beam wire is shorted to ground at the headlights. I also have no high beams unless holding flash to pass.
I was told the multi function switch was a common failure so i replaced it with no improvement.
Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for the headlights so i can try to isolate my short?
I have 2016 F350 with Right side passenger low beam not working. Replaced fuse, bulb, etc. Could not find schematics or pinout info for headlight switch. Light did not work and whenever I started truck fuse would blow. So, I decided to separately test from battery through switches to fuse box and then from fuse box to headlamp connector. I started by pulling the cover for switch and dimmer and, with connector attached to switch used multi meter to test voltage on each wire/pin (red probe to pin and black to ground). With engine not running (no key in ignition) I tested and wrote down the voltage for each pin with switch in 1) off position, 2) in parking lamp setting and 3) with headlight “on” setting. Then did the same with engine running. I found one pin that was an “open line” for all settings (yellow wire with blue stripe) and one pin that was “hot” under all settings (purple with gray stripe). Because the headlight switch never powered the open line and because this line was not connected to ground I assumed the switch was faulty. So, I disconnected the switch and jumpered the connector from the open line to the hot line. Voila, my passenger low beam headlight worked. While I wait for a new switch to arrive I will manually wire in a switch to turn on that headlight (everything else seems to be working correctly). Note that I have a Fisher snow plow isolation module installed so did some work up front to rule that out as the cause and then disconnected it before doing the testing above. If you find out where to get free schematics online please let me know.
