2016 F350 diesel, Canadian DRL. Any help would be appreciated. I installed a light bar via the up fitter switch and tapped into the high beam wire to trigger the relay.
Everything worked for about a year and suddenly I noticed a flickering of the light bar and it went out. Since then I have not had the hi beam that I tapped into. I disconnected the tap wire, checked all fuses and tried a new multifunction switch, all to no avail.
Bulb is good, no power to the hi beam wire when triggered. I’m stumped, and admittedly, not an automotive electrical expert, I’m just a millwright lol.
Well, I remembered I had a FORSCAN device (which I rarely use) so I scanned the modules and it was a short to ground on one hi beam circuit in the BCM. Reset it and its OK again. Now I’m thinking I should add a diode to the trigger wire.
I was under the impression that by using a relay to power the light bar triggered by the high beam wire was the way to do it.
If a diode would work, could you recommend a value?
