2011 F150 Diagnostic Code Help
Hello all,
Here's the low down:
2011 F150 XLT Extended Cab 4x4
Codes: U0428, C109D, C1282, C1280, C1963
Warnings: (Intermittently) "Service Advance Track", and when accelerating or climbing hills at highway speeds "Check Brake System"
Symptoms: metallic vibration sound from front driver's side
I am looking into the cause(s) for these codes. I am hoping it's 1 thing causing them all, but I am not sure if that's the case and would like to start attacking the most probable causes first. The C109D code says it's "low vacuum"; I have looked for vacuum leaks with no luck. The others I am wondering if they might be caused by an ABS wheel speed sensor and will be testing those tomorrow. I am hoping to do the work myself. Any insights are appreciated.

Some 2009-2012 and 2010-2012 vehicles built on or before 6/10/2012 may exhibit a condition where the traction control indicator is flashing or illuminated with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) C1278, C1280, C1282, and/or C1963 stored in the anti lock ( ) module. Im not sure how you would do it yourself and get access to the software upgrade... Here is the link that gives more details.. Labor rate is 20 minutes work..

Probably ought to fix that mechanical problem first. A software update, while in may be needed later, won't fix whatever is making that noise (which may be the root of the rest of the issues).

I agree with fixing the mechanical problem first. It doesn't have any symptoms besides the noise, so I'm wondering if maybe it's a heat shield starting to vibrate at a certain RPM... I used Forscan to install a trailer brake to work with my OEM dash LCD. I am wondering if I can do this update with it? I'd imagine it's possible.
