2011 F150 TPMS antenna?

Anyone with a 2011 F150, could you look at your TPMS receiver behind the glovebox and see if there is an external antenna connected? The wiring diagram shows both internal and external antennas. During my swap, I'm not sure if I misplaced the antenna or if it never had one.

In the photo, the gray connector is the antenna plug.

There is an external antenna that plugs into the TPMS module for the remote start.

This is an XL without remotes. In that case, it should not have an external antenna?

That grey port is for the remote start antenna. Trucks without it are left with an empty plug

Thanks, guys. I was hoping that a missing antenna was not the cause of my TPMS problems, but I just solved that issue a few minutes ago. All is good now.

I need to get the antenna. Remote start range without it is sub par.

If you already have remote start you have the antenna. There is two types of remote start systems from the factory. The most common with the button part of the key has a range of 150 feet. The other unit that has a separate fob and a windshield mounted antenna has a range of 1000 feet and is a feedback system.

All 2011-2014 XLT on up trucks come with remote start. It just needs to be enabled in the BCM and purchase a 4 button key, cut and programmed. XL trucks without keyless I am not sure what is needed.

Another XL? Join the club! Which body style do you have, regular cab or super cab? Mine's RC/LB, a true work truck!

Incorrect, the functionality is available in the BCM but there is no antenna. You must add the antenna and the keys. These can be had in the ford kit. Or you opt for the feedback system which uses separate key fobs and a different antenna.

I can prove that it does work without anything other than the four button key and enabling it in the BCM. In fact, that is all I have done so far to mine. Well, I did turn it on in the IC but that isn't really necessary unless you want the settings. PM me if you want.

Although it works without the antenna, the range is as only good as the distance of the fob. I plan on getting the antenna. I bought a cheap 4 button key off of Amazon for under $20. The dealer did me a solid and cut it for free. Since I already had two keys I was able to program it at home.

Tangent subject

Does the remote start antenna have anything to do with the remote lock/unlock range. My '14 XLT never has had even a decent range, like 10ft sometimes not at all. Tried new remote battery, 2nd OEM remote. Purchased truck new, only electrical mod is dealership puts LoJack on all their vehicles.

apologies if this is considered hijacking
