Power Window issue, GEM?
Initially the drivers window was slow to go down and then it was intermittent. So I noticed that if I tapped the main switch panel it would sometimes work. Eventually none of the windows would roll down. So I figured that I needed a main switch panel and I replaced that.
Now all the windows but the drivers work. So I tested the plug at the window motor and had power so tonight I replaced the motor. Now when I try and roll the drivers window down the dome light will flash off, a beep comes from the dash board and none of the windows will roll down for about 10 seconds, after that the dome light will come back on and if I try the drivers side window again the same thing will happen. If I try one of the other windows everything works fine. Except if I use the passenger window which is slow anyways (I think the motor is tired) if I use it everything is fine until it slows down and then it will do the same thing. I tried swapping the one touch down relay with another but that didn’t change anything.
In my research it seems the only thing that all this has in common is the retained accessory power. Which from what I can tell is controlled by a relay on the GEM itself which can have a problem with cold solder joints.
Any ideas on how to narrow it down further? Anyone else had this issue? Thanks for the help!
