My '92 F150 5.0 with 78,000 miles started running really rough recently. When in drive with your foot on the brake the battery voltage drops down very low if you have the heater on and sometimes stalls. When in park, it idles between 500 and 1000 rpm up and down constantly. The codes I got were a 31 and 32 (EGR), so I replaced the EGR valve. I have also replaced the battery and alternator but that didn't make a difference either. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong or what to try next? Thanks in advance.
In regards to the Codes , Id suspect the Evr Sensor may be the problem , Have the codes been reset after you replaced the valve ? As for the electrical problems , inspect both battery cables , not just at the cable ends but the whole cable for signs of corrosion .
Just checking...Did you mean the EGR sensor? I will check out the cables today but I didn't notice anything wrong with them just taking a quick look at them yesterday. This thing has me stumped.
One other thing. If I give it a little gas while in drive, keeping the rpm's up to about 8-900 the truck runs perfect. If I don't do this then the problems start. I just replaced the EGR position sensor and that didn't help either. Any ideas?
