Me too. I belong to several ford truck Facebook pages. Here I know and trust you. The knowledge here is amazing and I trust your knowledge and advice..... Facebook not so much.
I tell some select guys about FTE but I don't think they join.... Their loss.
1000% agreed - ease of access to Facebook doesn’t weed out anything! That being said, I’m in most of the groups (Schuyler Travis).
I'm in total agreement as well. FTE is a vast wealth of information and good people. I do more stalking than posting, but it is really cool to see all the projects and ideas people have.
It's been a slow process, with blistering cold weather this past week in Washington, but here are a couple in progress pics of the engine bay.
Gutting this horrible example of wiring felt pretty good. I have to admit.
This was an old hood latch assembly, that I couldn't wait to remove. You can see all of the brushed on bedliner/undercoat or (whatever it is). It's hard and a pita to remove. The entire underside of the hood has it too. I'm hopeful that I can get the majority of it off during this process. However, like my old saying goes, this aint no show truck!
So for now, I am pulling the heater completely out of this thing. It was from some other vehicle, and it looked terrible. This truck will be a summer driver for the most part, but if needed in the future, I will just go with an aftermarket heater/AC. This portion of the firewall was like swiss cheese. I plan on re-locating the voltage regulator and the majority of the wiring.
The big patch still needs to be burned in. The smaller stuff is filled and has a skim to seal up the welds. Far from finished, but you get the idea here.
A little update on the engine compartment progress. Roughed out most bodywork, and hit with a couple coats of 2k primer. I might do a little more work, before putting it in paint.....or I might not.
The factory valve covers are in pretty rough shape, so before this whole engine debacle occurred, I order these. They are just Ebay, chimichanga specials, but I was blown away on the quality. The welds are NICE and the flanges seem to be flat as can be. I also ordered up a set of these factory F100 decals.

wow, yes the Valvecovers looks really good and the decals too.
How did you find both? Would you please post the link?

I picked up the valve covers from this place, on Ebay. They had two different valve cover options, long bolt or short bolt basically. I went with the short bolt style. Riderightparts
Almost done wrapping up engine bay paint. It looks shiny in the first pic, but I threw some flattening agent in to give it a satin finish. I took the pic between coats. I felt satin would tie in better with the faux patina. We will see. I still need to get some paint on the frame. That will happen in the next day or two. Oddly enough, these parts got 2K primer, good sealer and several coats of Urethane single stage. I have more money in the engine bay, than I do on the whole outside of the truck....haha
I am just starting to rewire today. You can see a bundle of wires sticking out of the firewall. I also think I found a crank for my motor! So, hopefully that will start coming back together soon. Crossing my fingers that I will get this thing on the road ready before the sun comes out.
