altornator help

I replaced my alternator a few months ago. Everything is fine, I just have a few questions. I'm going to be plowing this winter, and want to upgrade my charging system. Is it possible to get a rebuild kit for my old alternator, bringing it from 80 amp to 110 or 130? Or should I just get a Ford 3G 130 alternator? Could I possibly overchange my system, possibly causing damage?

I'm not sure on the fit, but a higher amp alternator will only supply the higher amperage when needed. The regulator will still limit the voltage to the same levels.

hey bcf, about 3 months ago a changed the 60 amp to 100 amp alt. with non problems. didnt even have to change the belt size. i went to pick a part and found an alt from a lincoln towncar that had the oversize alt. and changed the pulley on the front to v-belt type. everything else just bolts up. you can check a previous post under my name leov5 and read it in more detail.

Here's leov5's old post. Looks like you could call out the model year car and get a new alt at the store if you wanted.
