We have an Autometer Monster Tach that was taken out of a 6 cylinder Jeep and are now trying to install it on a V8. On that particular model, in order for it to be 6 cylinder you have to cut the brown wire. We figured we could just solider that wire back together and have an 8 cylinder tach.
Which we do.
But now the needle jumps sporatically up and down. It kind of reads the RPM but it still jumps. We double and tripple checked the ground and power wires. Positive is coming directly from the battery. The tach (green) wire has not been cut and has a good end on it.
