Beefy crank main webs

Hello everyone! I'm looking for someone with knowledge of the casting numbers of blocks that can be converted to 4-bolt main caps. I've read 2 articles on the conversion, but the only reference given in the articles is, "First find a block that is condusive to 4-bolt main journal machining." No reference to numbers at all! The block shown has thick flat webs all the way to the oil pan rail. Are there any later model blocks that were built this way?

I believe early castings are the only ones with the thicker main webs. I don't know which casting number will have what, but I do know my old 460 out of my '75 F-150 had the thinner main webs and it was a D1VE block. I currently have a D0VE-A block waiting for me to do something with it and it indeed has the thicker main webs, so I can at least attest to that casting number as having them. Here's a pic of the bottom end when I popped the pan off after yanking the engine out of the JY.

Hard to see it, but the block says D0VE-A down and to the left of the rear freeze plug in the pic.

I have a set of aftermarket 4-bolt mains, if you're interested. I bought them before I yanked the pan. They are billet steel for the center 3 mains. I'll have to use a main stud girdle for this build.

Thanks, but no thanks. This particular engine has been put on hold as far as being rebuilt. I also don't plan on going crazy with it to the point of needing to 4-bolt it. I appreciate the offer though!

message me if you change your mind. I like to build the bottom end as bullet-proof as possible, because they are they most expensive and time-consuming when things go wrong.
