360 V8 2bbl carb. Seems that I am getting an intermittent miss after the truck is totally warmed up and running a bit hot like sitting at a stop light. If it heat soaks while sitting at the parking lot for a few minutes at times it can take longer to start. It does not happen when the truck is still cool or running down the highway. Vaporlock perhaps? Otherwise the truck runs like a bat outa hell. Attached is a photo of where the fuel line is currently running. It may be a little close at the water pump or block? Hope some of you might have had the same problem in the past and solved it. Thanks for any suggestions.
Things that have helped me in the past with this: First, I split a rubber fuel line down the length and then put it over the metal line from the pump to carb for insulation. A plastic carb spacer really helped on one of my trucks both with vapor lock and with the carbs performance in general. Wrapping my headers on one truck helped and brought down the water temperature 30 degrees on average. I live in Florida, so it is definitely hot here. If you really want to go all out you could get a fuel pump, regulator, and a return line, but I haven't had to do that yet.
If this has only just started, it could be your ignition or coil going.
Caravaggio2000, thank you for your reply. I can certainly give a try to insulating the metal line. The coil is new so I might save that for last. I thought I might also put a temporary high pressure fuel line on there and make sure it is well away from the block just as a test. It seems to only happen when the truck starts to heat soak. I am sure it is a simple fix but just need to track it down.

All older cars & trucks with carbs and mostly v8's have this problem with heat soak and restart, it has to do with todays fuel blend.
You will find this posted in all the year truck areas with out in tank pumps.
The fuel in the carb boils and being heavier that air goes into the intake manifold and causes a flooding condistion.
A non-heat conducting carb spacer seams to help, if you have a water heating plate under the carb do not run the water thru it, bypass the heat plate.
Thick gaskets also help along with the carb spacer plate. You have to keep the carb as cool as you can.
The other is to change the blend of the fuel you use now.
Some have said to add a little diesel fuel to a tank of gas. Other have added MMO to a tank.
You will have to play with the ratio of MMO / diesel to gas but start out low ratio and work up till you don't have an issue.
BTW a vapor lock is what there is a air pocket between the tank and pump on the motor that the pump can not pull fuel from the tank.
Most of the time this happens when it traffic not moving and the motor runs out of gas but you have a gas in the tank.
This is where the bypass type filter after the motor pump would work as the gas is always flowing even when the carb is not calling for fuel.
With a in tank pump you don't have this issue as anything under psi has a higher boiling point.
Anything under a vacuum (Hg) has a lower boiling point and why we can get vapor locks as the fuel from pump on back to the tank is under a vacuum.
