I need help immediately!!!

The paint isnt original the previous previous owners did a lot to it and didn't do a professional job more of a half *** job like spraying bed liner on the frame

My 1979 Ford I just bought about a month ago it was doing just fine other then a bad water pump and no A/C and a bad solenoid but other then that the engine was running like it would 40 years ago. Then I decided it'd be better to replace the whole brake system pads, rotors, drums, lines, master cylinder and brake booster, proportioning valves the whole nine yards. It wasn't running for like a week when that happened then when I tried to start it up it wouldn't turn on it would just crank and crank even though I had fuel so a new fuel pump when in and it did good again. Then out of no where it hits me like a train the truck shuts off on the road and won't turn on it just cranks and cranks and then starts up after so many cranks but if I have it running at high rpms it's all good it's running normal but if I slow down to turn or something it starts to sputter and shake like it wants to turn off, then to top it off it's running rich it was like a switch was lifted and these problems came out of no where. I'm thinking about converting to an electrical pump but I have a feeling my carb has problems as well. The pump does its job it pumps fuel I can see it in the in line fuel filter but it's like not being pumped enough for it to stay on and the carb isn't holding any fuel so it starts up. I really need some opinions from people on here that know more then me.
Edit) If I were to get a new carb what size do y'all reccomend for a stock 460? I want to stick with edelbrock and I think 600cfm is good enough but what size would y'all get and how much fuel pressure would you set the electrical pump to to feed the carb without over feeding it with gas or not feeding it with enough.

I'm not a carb guy but it almost sounds like an ignition issue rather than fuel. Are you sure you are running out of fuel? I would be looking for an ignition component or wiring that may have been bumped/rubbed the wrong way when you did all of the brake work. Best of luck.

Have you put a fuel psi gage on it to see if you are running around 7 psi ? If psi is not right look for a pin hole somewhere in the line back to the tank. Sounds more like a bad ignition box or maybe the pick up in the dist.

Holley's are ok at 7psi but that's too high if you plan on switching to an Edelbrock.
I think their max recommendation is 5.5.

Too rich and shaking except at high rpms sounds like a blown powervalve.
Does it make popping noises on trailing throttle?

Might be vapor locking, might be a bad pickup coil, check all the harnesses and connections and plugs throughout the ignition system.

Edit: I just noticed this is an old thread after posting. Hope you got it fixed.
Could be some crap in the tank plugging the fuel line pickup or plugged filter(s). Crap in the tank can float around, get sucked up to the pickup tube, then float away when the pressure stops. Going around corners can slosh crap around.
that happened to me, had to pull the tank. I ended up replacing it because it was rusty as well.
The new pump itself might have crapped out on you. Maybe make sure the bolts on it are still torqued down.
Try pulling the line and see if you're getting sufficient gas flowing to the carb.
