Dave, you're so right. I appreciate the advice. Looks like there's a guy about an hour north of me that has several t-18s and NP435s but I think I'll wait at least a week and rest a bit before I hop back on and get back to work. It's looking like I'm going to have a pretty busy fall, so I do need to get the transmission back in within the month so I don't get too busy and all of a sudden find myself in December with her still sitting in the driveway broken.

Alright folks, I suppose it only feels right to write this on this thread as it'll be the close of the "road trip" chapter. This afternoon I'm going to pick up a NP-435 from that guy I mentioned and will hopefully have it in either tonight or tomorrow. We'll see how it goes with only a floor jack and hopefully a couple extra pairs of hands. I'm reading to get driving and working again.

In the interim I spent a good bit of time clearing up the garage. Finally bought a full-size toolbox so my stuff wouldn't be scattered across all my benches, taking up workspace. One of my roommates has another project in the works that I'll be helping him with as well. He went and bought a 1980 Yamaha cafe racer that needs some help (welding and electrical).

Anyways, once the transmission is in, I'm not really sure what the next steps are for the truck other than to drive the **** out of it before it starts snowing. The seat does need some attention as the foam is practically disintegrating currently. But, that's for another thread. Thanks for following and being a part of the journey y'all, it's been a pleasure.

NO you got to close this AFTER the NP435 is in and running! LOL

I bought a HF cheap transmission jack when I knew I was going to pull the T18 and install the OD unit & NP435.
I have floor jacks but the bottom of both transmissions are not flat so the floor jack by my self was out of the question.
Good luck and please let us (me) know how it works out.

Alright Dave, fair enough! Went to pick up the NP 435 yesterday and got it in and the truck running an about an hour and a half after we got the trans back to my place. I used a floor jack and another buddy to get it in place. Honestly went fairly smoothly after having taken out and put it back in two or three times at this point. No fingers were lost or broken. I need to modify some things (trans crossmember and trans tunnel cover), as the 435 is a tad bit different from the T-18 as far as dimensions and where things sit, but she runs and drives again! Which is a great feeling. Supposed to snow here on Tuesday so I'm glad I got it done before then.

Good to hear it went smooth and is back on the road.
I guess it would go pretty easy after dealing with that T18 as much as you have.

I did not know of the cross member or the shifter hole in the floor as I added the Advance Adaptor's over drive unit and it pushed the trans back 7 1/2" so I had to drill new holes in the frame.
I also had a 2nd trans cover pan that the shifter hole was back more but still not enough so I had to mod it some.

SNOW! we have a cold snap for this weekend and back up to I think the 90's again for a bit.
I would say enjoy the truck but guess it is away for a bit with the snow now.

ps Ok now you can close it LOL
