edge 8F35 transmission
The new for 2019 8F35 transmission is surging at low speeds during warmup and to a lesser degree when fully warm.
I took it back to the dealer 2 weeks ago and they did a computer re-flash, but it didn't help. It was for harsh shifting, not my issue.
The tech said it would shift strangely for a few days until it learns my driving. It's an adaptive learning tranny.
So back it goes on Monday afternoon, so they could drive it on Tuesday morning to find out how it's acting. Of course it didn't act up.
They did a pressure test on the cooling system to see if any coolant is leaking into the cylinders, left it sitting overnight under pressure and it had no leakage.
They took it for a drive with their scanner connected and it acted up. They got no codes, checked fluid level, electrical connections and anything else they could think of, and all was ok. The tech said it seemed to be hunting for the right gear, or locking and unlocking the torque converter.
So then they took a new leftover 2019 with the same engine and tranny off the lot for a drive and it acted up too.
So now they don't know what to do, and will call the hotline and ask for help from the engineers.
Has anyone else had this problem with their Edge, and has your tech found a solution?
I'm not a mechanic but it seems like a programming issue to me, like max fuel economy is what the computer is trying to achieve, but too much so.
Thanks.
