Reese Goose Box

Anyone have any experience with one of these? I'm getting a B&W ball install this next week that has been delayed for some them for work on the farm and now the wife wants a 5th wheel. I'm new to RV's and looking for advice.

I can't personally give you a review since I don't have one. I have been following every thread I can find and most if not every review has been positive. If I were buying again, my 5th wheel would have a Reese Goose Box. I would get the 20k hitch for the few dollars more.
My 2018 Super Duty had a B&W Turnover Ball, the hitch worked perfect and is very well built.

I installed mine a couple weeks ago but haven’t gone anywhere yet. I’m using the ford stick goose ball, and the install was straightforward. I had to go one set of holes lower than recommended but I’ve got 7” of clearance now. I had an Andersen hutch which I loved, but the new truck is a long bed, so I had more options and was looking to have nothing in the truck when I unhooked at the campground. I’m also hoping to have a little more bed space while hooked up.

I have had one for a year and will never pull a 5th wheel with anything else. The ball eliminates the clunking and banging of a standard 5th hitch and the air bag smooths the ride. Takes a few minutes longer to hitch up but the ride quality is well worth it.

I installed one after I got my 450. I’ve had one trip with it and it works great. It’s very convenient to have an empty bed in about 10 seconds, no heavy 5th wheel hitch to move around, and have an air ride hitch. I installed an air pressure gauge on mine so it’s easy tp check. No complaints at all.

I have the 20K on my Raptor. Love it and will not go back. My old back loves the idea if lifting a 5 lb ball out of the bed when not towing, rather than a 150-200 lb 5th wheel.
And the ride is superb!

Take a look at the Gen-Y 5thwheel to gooseneck hitches . They have a 25k trailer 4500k pin weight auto latching model and a 30k trailer 5500k pin weight manual latching model . They don’t use air bags but they use have torsion flex components similar to a MorRyde torsion flex suspension. I’m getting the 30k model for my New Horizons I’m picking up the 23rd . Love the idea of not having the heavy 5thwheel hitch in the bed of the truck. They also have a version that you can use if you have a 5thwheel hitch already.

Hi slapshot12,
Can you elaborate on the pressure gauge, please? I just bought a Goosebox (20K), but haven't installed it yet (trailer is in the shop). I think the gauge sounds like a great idea. Details on what gauge and how you mounted it would be much appreciated!

Regards,
John

That hitch is not approved by Lippert so if you end up tearing up your frame you are out of luck on warranty.........

New Horizons builds their own frames and has no problems with the hitch. They are selling them to other customers . I guess it just depends on how the frame is constructed. New Horizons installed the hitch before I picked up the rig.

That's great! I knew Jayco did (or used to use a different frame than LCI) and Norwood does

check my thread. It is the way to go. Very good ride and easy to hook up when you get the hang of it.
