I love mine, Scott. A “little” more of a PITA getting under it than a regular pin box, but it ain’t my first rodeo so I learned how to do it a long time ago. And at my age, what is another 30 seconds or so. When I park the trailer, I try to find a spot that is a little nose down so when I pick up off the ball I come out level.
The air ride built in rides great............and then I only have a 5 pound ball to lift out of the bed when I am done.
I really have nothing bad to say about it.
where did you get yours. I am looking etrailer.com right now.
I think it was etrailer.
EDit: I also have the wider pin box, so I needed the spacer kit which they didn’t have; so I made my own spacers with some 1/4” plate. And my original pinbox was mounted with 12 grade 8, 5/8 inch bolts, and the Goosebox only came with 8, so I drilled 4 extra holes and used 12 again. I don’t know if that was necessary but what could it hurt. Now the goosebox is mounted the same as the original pinbox.
Don't get rid of your old pin box because you will want to keep the Goosebox if you trade trailers. I bought mine a year and a half ago and will never pull with a standard 5th hitch again. The ride is that good.
Bought mine on Ebay, couldn't find it anywhere else at that time.
I really like my Goosebox. Smooth ride and an empty bed when done. I also kept my original hitch that will go back on the camper if/when we sell or trade it.
I just made the swap a month ago and love it. Tows great and totally empty bed when I unhook. I bought mine at a local trailer place, they had it in stock and were close to online pricing with no shipping.
I did. I had a 1621 pin box and it was pretty straightforward. I wound up moving the Goose Box up a set of holes after I was done to give me better clearance with the truck. I have a forklift at my shop so that made it even easier but I’ve seen online people using the bed of their truck and the landing gear to do the lifting, that would work for sure.
I have a couple of boys. Had also thought of putting my floor jack to use in the bed of the truck.
That would work too. It’s not too heavy, just big and awkward to get the holes lined up. Get a couple bolts in the holes and you can pivot on those to get the rest in. I had more holes line up than I had bolts for so I used two of the old bolts.
I switched a couple months ago from an AUH and I’m 100% satisfied with the GB. The ride is much better, having an empty bed in a few seconds is great, and I don’t have to get in the bed at all to connect or disconnect. The install is pretty easy with 2 people.
I got mine from Tow universe. They had the best price when you figure this price includes the safety chains also. I haven’t price compared lately. Irvin at TU was great to deal with.
