And then this happened. i was sitting in my office minding my own business and Boom! All hell breaks loose. My nephew's 16 y/o son, I guess that makes him my grand-nephew was driving backwards out to drop off a bag of scrap in the yard. The bags have loops for forks and it was full so the carriage guard on the lift was pretty high. He snagged the @#@@#~%$#ing fire sprinkler line on the way out and flipped the lift over. Thank God he wasn't hurt. The sprinklers under the overhang went off, the alarm went off, the fire dept came out. F me.... We flipped the forklift up and it doesn't seem to be any worse for the wear. I'm pretty sure we worked for free today because I'm sure the fix won't be cheap. Just when everything seems to be going nice and smooth..... Then it ain't!
That forklift, though, that will take some serious buffing.
We stood it back up, checked the oil, and fired it up. Sounds fine, runs fine, hydraulics work, and there's no oil spots underneath it so hopefully it's good to go. I called the mechanic out anyway to check it out. Damned sprinkler system is probably going to ding me though.
Thank GOD the kid's OK! Sprinkler can be repaired unlike if that forklift fell on him.
Just don't let your insurance carrier find out!
That was the first thing that ran through my mind when I heard the crash "I hope nobody got hurt." I'm not messing with insurance on this anyway. I knew sooner or later someone was going to snag that sprinkler line. It is such a ****-poor design and a stupid place to run a trunk line. We load under that overhang all the time. Just got off the phone with the sprinkler guy and he'll be there first thing in the AM.
That was to clean up the poop after the kid shat himself.
Glad he’s ok!
When I heard the water kick on all I could think about was for some reason the inside ones came on. I've got 3 CNC machines in there that would be ruined if that happened. The kid feels like total shxt. He's been beating himself up about it since it happened.

Hopefully he had something useful but non-physical to do the rest of the day. Then, get him back on that horse soon, so 1. he knows you still trust him 2. he overcomes his fears. No need to watch him when he does - he'll be extra careful!
