My pickup is an early 99 f350 7.3 6 speed. i swapped in a 2000 f250 7.3 engine and I am looking for a late 99-01 6 speed pcm for it. the e99 pcm is not working with the new engine and injectors. Or if anyone has the pcm code or part number i can use to order a new pcm. every ware im finding needs either the pcm code or vin number witch i dont have for the one i need.
thanks for any help. this has been a 2 year long pain in my butt and i just want to have my pickup back.
There's no reason other than a few 50-state (Commiefornia) emissions things if you have those that an E99 PCM won't work with a 99.5-2003 engine. If you have a 49-state E99 it will run a 49-state engine through 2003. Obviously the intake air heater controls are nonexistent in the E99 PCM.
If it were a problem, my 2000 wouldn't work as it uses an E99 PCM and my service truck at work (2001) would suffer as it also has an E99 PCM.
If you are just dead set on using a later PCM for whatever reason, you will use a DPC-421 if you are 49 state emissions compliant or a DPC-431 if you need 50-state.
The issue I'm having is that it is blowing a black haze while it's running. Also getting very high egts wile driving. It has stock injectors that were tested good befour I reinstalled them. It makes 35psi of boost very quick so I'm assuming it's not lack of air.
ford mechanic told me to look for a newer pcm and he believes that is causing my overfueling
That's not an issue between the E99 PCM and newer engine.
If your original engine ran fine, then it's not a PCM issue. 35 PSI of boost (if you're looking at gauge pressure and not absolute) is not possible on stock injectors and stock tuning.
