My stickers are gone! I have a 1997 E350 with a 7.3l diesel. All I want to do is add a programmer, but there is no sticker on my door jamb or on my PCM that tells me what the PCM code is. So, I pulled the PCM out to see if I could get it off the connector. Here's all I see.
Do I need the PCM code to order a programmer?
Which programmer should I get? I just want to have an economy setting and a towing setting. I have high idle already because it used to be an ambulance, so it came with an RPM control. Anti-theft or Valet would be nice, but not necessary.
How can that be? It is in the engine compartment, driver's side next and just below the coolant reservoir and the master cylinder. It took a 10mm wrench to get it off......I thought I did what they told me to do! :-$ Where is the PCM, then?
Sure enough, it does. I wasn't doubting you, I was just surprised. I guess I've been breathing gas fumes too long instead of diesel fumes. Thanks for the video. Now I can get her done. It looks like you use the DP tuner. I'm assuming that's what you would recommend? If so, why? I was looking at the 6 position TS performance chip
You can probably read the label with a strategically placed mirror so you don't have to yank the computer... some people have to pull the inner fender liner to get it out.
Don't fall for the "better fuel mileage " crap. Chips or to boost performance. In order to do that they bump up the amount of fuel dumped into the cylinder. If your sole purpose is mpgs then you'll be disappointed. If you do get better mpgs then it's due to worn injectors not flowing correctly and the chip will basically put you back at what stock performance should be. Maybe a little more. You won't custom tuning built for your truck/mods and what you do with you truck. Look at tuners like DP tuner, PHP, Gear head, and Tony wildman
Before you start modding make sure the truck is in 100% good running condition. If you want the best fuel mileage you can get then start with making sure tire air psi is correct, front end is aligned, brakes aren't dragging, get rid of the stock air filter and put a 6637, and a full exhaust
