Bilstein steering damper vs stock

06 F250 towing 28' 5er, upgraded the shocks with Bilstein 4600. Wondering if I would gain anything upgrading the steering stabilizer with the Bilstein 5100? I had replaced it with a OEM equiv 2 years ago. (stock tires)

When towing (all weights are within capacities inc payload) front/steering feels light, I want to tighten up it a bit, can't describe it other than that way.
F250 steering isn't exactly precision steering so I thought a better stabilizer would tame it down a bit.

Maybe too much pressure in the front tires?

If your trailer was a bumper pull, I would say that too much weight was removed from the front axle. But with a fifth wheel? I didn't think it worked that way, but maybe your hitch isn't setup quite right?

Maybe the steering/suspension components are worn out and need a refresh. A steering stabilizer may be a band-aid for worn components.

5th wheel, hitch setup correctly, trailer completely level. Weights confirmed on CAT scale. Truck has only 37,000 miles on it.

I don't know the year or size of your truck, but on my '15 F-350 crew-cab long-wheel-base single-rear-wheel truck, replacing the steering stabilizer with the Bilstein helped. What helped the most, was a rear stabilizer. My long-wheel-base truck did not come with one from the factory and when towing, the front end wanted to wander. The stabilizer bar really made a difference.

2006 short bed supercab. Rear stabilizer? You mean rear sway bar? If so I added one a Hellwig one couple years ago.

I went ahead and ordered the Bilstein steering stabilizer, nothing but great reviews.

The Bilstein Stabilizer is, was a nice up-grade. Just a better Steering Feel. No different than replacing Ford O.E. Shocks with Aftermarket Shocks. Just rides better.

If it gets "LIGHT" when put a load on the truck then it's unloading the front axle. Yes replacement of the damper will help. You can have the trailer level but you can still be removing weight off the front axle of the truck.

Have you weighed the axles both loaded and unloaded? Be sure that you have each axle on it's own plate. also brakes need to be off so the truck will settle. This will confirm whether the weight is coming off of the axle.

Have you measured height at the top of the fender arch to verify? If the height from the ground or the center of the axle to the top of the fender arch increases you are unloading the front axle.

Camper weighs 8800# as loaded for a weekend. Pin weight is 1380#, weight added to front axle is 80#, weight added to rear axle 1300#. Rear squat 1.5", front squat, never noticed or measured.

You might also look and see if you can move the hitch forward (or more forward) of the rear axle to distribute the load more forward.
