+++ Today was a Good Day! What Did You Do To Your Rig? +++

After sorting out my 2wd lo mod last week & fitting my Riffraff F650 lower dash, I thought I'd give the truck some mechanical love today. Fitted some EBC Yellowstuff pads up front, found the inner pad on the passenger side was stuck & the friction material was becoming detached, explains why the truck was pulling very slightly to the left under braking, cleaned & reassembled, now stops straight.
Drained some coolant & changed the upper radiator hose for the one that enables you to change the serpentine belt without removing it, then fitted a new green belt. Checked all levels & greased a few nipples & it's good to go, oil and filters not due for a few K yet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mods Edit: With Rob's blessing to convert this thread, I've been wanting to have a "What have you done to your rig" technical conversation thread like we have in other forums where we can BS about the latest maintenance, mods, problems, or passing topics of convo about our trucks.

We already have a general chat thread, so as a rule of thumb, please keep this about your truck.

Hope this works!

Stewart

Good work!

All I can think about is the Ice Cube (long time ago) song though after reading the thread title...

Thanks, I've just got the Trutrac to fit before the weather turns, it's been sitting on a shelf under my bench for nearly 12 months!

Having that upper hose that doesn't intersect the serpentine is such a relief. Not sure why they even make 2 hoses.

My guess is that they did the other one first then had to re-engineer things for dual alternators, but carried on with both. Although there's already the recess on the alternator bracket for the hose & a retaining zip tie.

Probably thought they could save 6" of rubber hose 10,000,000 times over and said do it!

Changed the oil the other day, but that was on my 6.0 PSD.

I need to change the aftermarket frame mounted fuel filter on the Ex. It's a little past time and I've been putting it off long enough.

Placed an order from KC turbo for their S300 drop in turbine wheel. So there will be some work in cooler weather in the near future

Changed oil, coolant and fuel filters. Ordered OUO traction bar kit and also ordered rebuild kits (u joints, carrier bearing, etc.) for front and rear driveshafts.

It wasn’t today but the other day I installed my Hydra chip, getting to be an expert at pulling the pcm. Makes quite a difference and loving it so far.

While resurrecting this truck there seems to be money to be spent at every corner. But hey at least I am having fun again, not stressing about something expensive breaking on the 6.4.
