I know we have talked about this before but is a Bilstein steering stabilizer all that much better than the stock one. I never had steering stabilizers before so thats why I asking. What difference will the Bilstein one make? If its anything like the difference the 5100 shocks did I'm all in for this. And my next question is which part# for Bilstein did you all use? Thanks, Rick
This has been one of my most favorite mods yet. It tightened up the steering and made it drive like a truck again. Impacts over bumps don't flop the front end around like the factory junker allowed...
This is why I wish we had a general part number list in the tech folder.
It would be neat if we could enter items and part numbers into a large database that we could use. I know it's all redundant, have to look stuff up wherever we order from but at least confirmation or whatever other reasons we could have a nice reference, maybe with reviews too?
Nice idea, to have a tech folder for each mod that gets done, but then thee would be tons of mods, parts, etc... to weed through, but would be nice to have..
I am wanting to replace my stock stabilizer on my 2011 f350. I have read all over the forums about the various stabilizers, but I can't come to a decision on whether to go with the bilstein 5100, or the carli/bilstein 7100. I see that everyone loves them both, but which is better? Obviously the 7100 is about 3 times more money than the 5100, but if it's better i'd be willing to pay the extra. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I have some front end bounce over bumps, especially series of bumps, in my new F350. Will one of the Cali Bilstein 7100's help me significantly? I really don't want the steering "tighter" but want to maintain control of the truck going over road bumps, dirt roads, potholes, etc.
My opinion is that the 5100 series is just fine if running stock wheels and tires or on road driving is all you are doing. If you see some off road driving and some larger wheels and tires in the future, then the 7100 series is a better choice. Do if your truck is stock (and staying that way) it is likely not worth the extra fun coupons to go with the 7100 over the 5100.
But will either one significantly reduce or eliminate that ridiculous bounce I get going over road bumps. Its the worst when I hit a few small bumps in a row. Its like the truck's front end wants to just take off.

There are a lot of threads that answer that question. Do a search for EpicCowLick's video on it too (edit: found it below). I think the combination of shocks and steering stabilizer will fix the bumps you are describing...it sure greatly improved my truck's handling. http://youtu.be/ZmP8kefje6w
I'm still pretty upset I had to spend the money to replace brand new shocks and steering stabilizer on an expensive truck. Ford could really invest a few hundred bucks into quality components.
