The time has come to replace the slide topper fabric. The roof is getting redone when the temp is a little warmer or at least a little more consistent as in no more nights below 50. In the meantime while I wait to crazy seal my roof I figured it’s time to replace the slide topper fabric. The fabric is 8 years old and has seen better days. The 5th wheel is a Montana 3750fl with 5 slides. Priced out some of the custom made options and instead ordered a roll of Solera universal fabric. It comes 50’ long and 48” wide which is enough for all 5 slides. Cost was 145 delivered verse about 800-1000 for custom sized white.
so the party starts this Friday. Should be fun guess I’ll document my pain.
Have fun with that. Be sure to post pictures as well as any wisdom you gain from the project.
shouldn’t be that bad. I have replaced the main 17’ awning on our last camper as well as a few others on some friends. It’s not a bad job.
opened the box up to check the material it looks good. It is slightly heavier weight than the existing with electro welded seams. It’s on a roll inside the box so it pulls out nicely. Deciding if I want to cut the pieces to size then cover them in 303 or not worry about it.
no the material is meant to be cut to size and installed no sewing. Sewing the edge on the side would seem problematic as it would cause the fabric to be thick on the edge thin on the middle. Now if you’re talking the edge that attaches to the camper no it should be fine. The existing toppers have electro welded seams and they have lasted 8 or 9 years.
Just replaced ours last weekend. It was a piece of cake. Ordered ours off of Ebay. YouTube had a video of our exact model of slide cover which made it really easy. Good luck.
