I have a 00' f250 that has started to through a code P1316 randomly. it always starts and idles no problem but once you start to drive it will code. So far I have replaced the UVCH and gaskets to no success. I have located the IDM and unhooked the wiring harness and all looks good. Pins #2 and #26 read 5.9 ohms to battery negative while all other pins have no reading to negative. Does this sound correct? I want to make sure I don't have some sort of short happening and that I rule all possibilities out before I commit to spend the money and replacing the IDM. Any help appreciated. Thank, Chad.
My edge insight pulled the code up. I do not have the ability to do a buzz test. The problem is not consistent. I might make it a mile or ten miles. If I shut it down and restart all is better for another mile or ten.
Also inspect the underside of the Harness that leads to the Driver side 42 pin connector. It can chafe on the valve cover and cause all sorts of problems.
Took a look at the connector and found nothing at first put it back together and still had problems. Let it sit and pulled it apart again and found a green wire that had gotten down to the coper. It was all corroded making it look like the insulation. I added some tape and took her for a 60 miles ride with some stops and all seems good for now.
