Truck died when I went to lunch. Probably fuel pump haunting me again, so once I restarted and drove back to work I checked codes, got 512 in continuous memory. I just had the EEC harness open last month when I put the ignition resistor in, is it possible I jiggled a wire and triggered the code? Either way I gotta pull the PCM out and look inside, see if anything's messed up in there ... anything else might cause this code to set?
Hey guys, I just got a Cardone remanned PCM. I have not installed it yet, I got it as a 'just in case'. I opened the unit and Im not sure this thing will be ok ... Attached pictures, this is the NEW one, not my original. What do you guys think? My worry is the soldering on the capacitors ...
Got me rethinking the one I installed. I didn't open it up for fear of voiding the 1 year warranty, and now I'm having an intermittent moisture issue....
Alright guys, I'm 99% sure I fixed it. Story time: I disconnected the PCM connector and performed power tests. Pin 1 to Pin 40/60 showed a rock solid 12.6V and no loss of signal when flexing the wire harness. I busted open the old PCM and found problems. Blue powdery crap under the capacitors ... I decided to try the Cardone unit even though @rla2005 thinks it is junk (no offense dude, it looked iffy to me also). Installed the new PCM. Drove the truck for a good 30 minutes, no problems there. Rechecked codes when I got home, got 111 for On and Continuous. I am hanging onto the old one just in case but in the meantime, problem solved.
