Hey y’all I’m new here and my truck is giving me fits. For the past fews weeks while driving my engine would start to misfire a bit and the check engine light would come on. Three seconds later it would run fine and the light would go off. Two days ago it started to run really rough and the check engine light stayed on while the truck was running. I took it to a local shop and had them pull the codes. Codes are:
P0603 - Internal control module keep alive memory error.
P1316 - Ignition driver monitor codes detected.
P1139 - Water in fuel indicator lamp circuit malfunction.
B2658 - Wait to start earning indicator circuit open.
U1267 - SCP data fault from J1850 Bus.
I’ve read and watched videos on the P1316 until my eyes bled and assumed that the majority of the problem starting there. So today I replaced the UVCH and glow plugs. Fired it up and it is now running worse. Any ideas of what the heck is going on??? Help is much appreciated!
Before you go replacing parts in an attempt to fix that P1316, ohm out the harness at the IDM connector. A short in the circuits will kill an IDM very quickly.
Also inspect the underside of the Harness that leads to the Driver side 42 pin connector. It can chafe on the valve cover and cause all sorts of problems.
The above is a cut-n-paste from @aawlberninf350 in another similar thread posted yesterday.
It refers to the harness that comes from the IDM to the drivers side big 42 pin connector.
From what I read the Dormans have improved quality since they first came out. They were a point-and-laugh item but now it's just a little side-eye. Probably work just fine.
When the truck ran poorly was is raining? Cross any streams? The IDM can get water inside if you get in too deep.

I’m finally back under the hood and was going to test the IDM harness but mine looks nothing like this.
