I am new to this site at posting so I will do my best to ask this question. I am rebuilding a 1976 F100 short bed vin number F11YLA50173. I purchased the Frame and cab in Arizona and towed it to PA. In PA I have an old F150 short bed I purchased new in 1978 vin number F14BNCB0732. So I am using the old frame and cab from Arizona to recreate the Pa one. It sure comes with challenges!!! But it keeps me busy. The F100 had a V8 and I changed it to my 300 6. all went well and the drive train is all installed. However now I am facing some challenges after installing the cab. I ordered new emergency brake cables and installed but the front line from the pedal assembly to the rear Joint Cables comes up short.
I ordered the 1976 cable and it comes up about 2" short. It should work since I did not change anything as far a framework on the old frame or cab. So if someone can lead me out of this problem or suggest what I have wrong I would appreciate it.
I am also wondering what to do with the throttle cable since the old one was a mechanical through the firewall and the one I have is the 1978 spring Cable. Does anyone have experience with modifying an older cab to the new throttle?
Thanks
Randy

You forgot to mention that both of these trucks are 4WD!
1976/79 F100/150 2WD/4WD Regular Cabs use the same rear cables, but the 4WD front cable is different than 2WD
Plus, 1976/77 use a different front cable than 1978/79, part time/full time drive also makes a difference.
Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent info and be aware that only a few members can decode VIN's.
I happen to be one of them. F11 = F100 4WD Pickup // F14 = F150 4WD Pickup
Thanks for the quick response. I will try to do better on my posts. I also put two problems on one post which I later read is not good either.
Have you ever heard of someone attempting to do what I am doing? I first purchased the front cable figuring it was the same as the 1978 and that one was short. So next I purchased the correct one for the 1976 but I am also coming up short. even though this cable is slightly longer. I have the complete manuals but I am not good at finding anything on them yet. Plus my CD drive went south on me.

I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your knowledge and help. I got the E brake hoked up. I am now working on the gas pedal. Is there a grommet where the pedal goes through the fire wall? I cannot find any on the manuals I have. And I also need the bracket to mount the spring cable. Any drawing or help is what a need.
Thanks
Randy.
A JY may be your best option. There is another thread with a similar throttle cable issue.
Do you have the bracket that mounts to the intake?
The lever that comes up from the pedal through the firewall needs to have a fork at the tip for the cable to attach to.
Shadows were tough in the first few pictures. Bracket is just under brake booster hose. Different view. One stud on top. Two studs on bottom. Bracket is shaped kinda like a backwards "F" Fork at tip of throttle rod. Throttle rod is just behind (right of) spark plug wire.
You just answered my question. I'm sure I have the two parts. It has been so long I was not sure how it mounted. I have both brackets. I just did not know which one and how it mounted.
Thanks for the picture!!! You saved me a drive to a guys place who has many of these trucks.I use them when I get stuck.
Randy
OK thanks!!! I have everything I need except the boot if there is one. I had to laugh when I saw the picture because I had the bracket all the time and just could not remember where it went. I'm old LOL
