Wear gloves before you pull too hard, had many a bulbs break in my hands and it's not fun picking all the glass out of your fingers.
Sometimes I take a pair of needle nose, while looking in a safe direction go ahead and break the bulb part, then grab the metal part of it and pull away.

I changed one of those bulbs and it broke. I had to use pliers to pull the remnants out of the socket. You might try doushing it really good with electronics cleaner for a few days in a row. Some bulbs have dielectric grease in the socket from the factory and it gums up and solidifies after 30+ years. Good luck.
