Question Power window problem?

Hey guys,

I have a 1998 4.6 2wd with 3.55LS. The truck has power windows and door locks. I have recently developed a loud hum from what I think is the drivers side power window motor. The window works fine right now, does not appear to bind, and goes up and down at a steady speed. But when I activate the window I get a loud hum and the window motor seems like it is laboring. Could the power window motor be going bad? Or do I need to lubricate the track? I'm just worried that I'll put the window down and not be able to get it back up. We have rain almost every day here in central Florida this time of the year and dont want to get caught with the window down. The truck is a regular cab and the passenger window seems to be ok, no loud hum there. Any suggestions would be great.

I would first try lubing the tracks and felts with a clear silicon spray. If that doesn't help, then the motor may be failing.

Thanks,

I'll try that first and see what happens. From searching previous posts it seems like the power window motor failing is fairly common. I may pick one up this weekend and keep it on hand in case it fails. With the truck being almost nine years old I think some parts are bound to be near the end of their lives. Thanks for the info.
