Just purchased a 2003 Excursion 7.3 and need to replace or repair both bumpers. The truck is an Eddie Bauer with the beige colored bumpers and both the front and rear have rusted in the corners and the paint has flaked off. I think the truck could use some more chrome but I haven't been able to find any good recommendations on a OEM vs replacement brand. Are there good videos on the replacement?
Also noticed the fuel tank skid plate is pretty durn rusty. What do folks recommend on converting the rust and painting?
Thank y'all. I'll be posting more as I get into it more as my list of "want-to's" is long.
As far as painting the skid plate POR15 all the way. Ive done parts of my frame and it holds up great. Planning on painting more parts of the truck this year with it to convert the rust and make it look good.
The crash parts aren't the same quality as OEM. Thinner metal and cheaper chrome. The EB painted stuff is much more expensive. If you want chrome search car-part.com. Plenty of rust free stuff from southern trucks. If your tan plastics are in good shape that will save you a lot, otherwise you'll want to find bumpers off a Limited Ex, chrome with tan plastic.
I had trouble with POR15 peeling. I used KBS coatings on my Kenworth and it's holding up very well on what was sand blasted. I had a few parts that had nice paint yet, so I scuffed them and sprayed the KBS. I didn't know it then, but I was supposed to spray their fusion primer on the scuffed paint and then the KBS Rust Seal. You are also supposed to use the fusion primer on top of the Rust Seal if you want to paint it. So the KBS peeled on the painted parts due to my mistake.
I tried Eastwood Platinum Rust Encapsulator on our Excursion. It went on very well and covered much better than I expected. I'm still working on the EX, so I don't know how it's going to hold up yet. It seems to have adhered well to both metal and paint.
Bently, Thanks for the response. I couldn't find anything in the tech folder about how to with steps to replace front and rear bumpers. Any suggestions? Haven't found YouTube videos either.

@wahoouva2 There is nothing technical /difficult about removing/reinstalling the bumpers, except they are a bit heavy if you are doing this yourself.
Front bumpers are held in the front/center by 4 bolts, 2 each on each side of the winch hooks. In addition, there are 2 bolts in the back. 1 each on the left & right that are holding the corners in. Rear bumpers are held by 4 bolts and a bracket. 2 bolts on each side. Rear bumper is much more heavier than the front as it has a heavy & strong inner frame. Here are some pictures to give you an idea how the front bumper mounts.
As far as replacements, ou can pick your choice of bumpers from the 5 years that the Excursion was made OR from 99-'16/'17 superduty F250/350. See below for the 2 ways that I tried it on my 2 excursions and make your choice. On the red excursion (2000 7.3), I used the front and rear bumpers from a '15 or '16 superduty. On the grey excursion (2003 7.3), I went with a front bumper of a '06 and the rear bumper from a '15 superduty.
I searched the internet car parts until I found a site that gave me a discount. It arrived with one corner bent and cracked, but my MIG welder took care of that. Painted it like the original and the front of the X is looking like new. Seems to be a quality part, the metal was very close to being as thick as the original. No fitment problems at all. My plastic was in pretty good condition, the only thing I need are the clips that hold the round studs on each end.

Sorry about that, I thought there was. As mentioned below it is a pretty simple swap.
