Can anyone tell me what the secret is to getting the main amplifier removed? I have a 1998 Navigator with the premium sound system. I have removed the entire center console, radio, heater controls, and two smaller plastic panels under the dash. I have removed the 3 screws that hold the amplifier in place. I have disconnected the three connectors from the amplifier. There is a larger cable that is wrapped up, and was anchored to the amplifier with a plastic ribbed push fastener, and I have pushed that out of the bore in the amplifier where it was seated. The amplifier seems like it should be removed by lowering it down, but there isn't enough clearance to do that from what I can see. I can't see anything else that I can get out of the way, unless maybe that larger cable that was anchored to it is supposed to be disconnected somewhere (I don't see any connectors visible, though this cable is wrapped up, and there may be something under the wrapping...this is all barely accessible).
If anyone has experience with doing this or knows what the trick is, I'd appreciate the help very much. I'd really like to put the new stock replacement amplifier in, and get everything put back together. Thanks in advance.
