Got reflashed Friday. Lowend power, throttle response and mileage are all back to where they were when truck was new. Haven't towed yet, but I got 21.3 MPG. Took a 300 mile round trip and would've been happy with 18.
All these reflashes (if that is a word in plural form) do they have a numbering system or a code so all of us laymen can figure out or actually know what we are receiving? I have not needed a flash and would like to know for sure if (when one works) that I would receive a good one.
I too, have had great mileage and awesome power, keeping fingers crossed that I would not need the “flash”
If your truck is working fine I would not advise getting any flashes. I was just starting the buyback war with Ford and would not wish what I've gone through to get my truck working again on anyone. They do have part #s for each flash. I have a 03 F3504x4CC, auto.
Thanks and I would never let anyone do “flash” unless it is absolutely necessary. Back to a bit of the original question, do you have the number of your re-flash?
I am just collecting data points!
Got Flast early last week because FMC engineers were working on my truck. Went out this morning to go to sons football game and wouldn't start again.

Well guys, I have an 04 that has had all the related electronic problems that have been posted on this forum. The problems started at 500 miles and have plagued me ever since. The problems I have encountered are the stalling at idle, dead throttle pedal, engine dying at hiway speeds, severe tach flucuation. I have had all the software updates the last one being released on 10/6/03 and none of them have helped my situation. The truck had a flight recorded installed this last week and hopefully the dealer got some usable information. The truck is in the shop now and the diesel tech is in contact with the Ford engineers trying to get a handle on this nagging problem.
Took my 6.0 in for first service Saturday. 3,000 miles.
Here were my observations after 3k.
1) Awesome vehicle !! I loved my 150 standard cab manual, never had any problems but wanted MORE like the greedy hog I am. Got the 6.0 and entered into a whole different world. By far my fav ever at this point. (Just passed my '78 Camaro from high school)
2) Starting was fine before flash stayed fine after.
3) Idling was fine before- a little smoother now
4) Heard the little rumble bump on initial shift from park to rev or drive. Service Tech at dealership said not a problem, could be quited if it bothered me but not an issue. Anyone got any thoughts on this one?
5) Plenty of power before----- gave me a little boost and now even better !! Awesome acceleration
6) Had about an inch in the pedal before---- softened the pedal a bit and fixed that problem completely. Now it is responsive as soon as you apply pressure to it.
7) Was getting 17.9 mpg before--- don't know yet about that. Going on a long trip this week and will let you know.
Would like to hear others opinions/ experiences similar or different than mine. Thanks, Lucky

Luckyeye,
I gave in and bought an 04 F250 King Ranch 6.0 with the 03 engine today. I orded a Lariat a week ago but everytime I saw the KR I liked it better and better. Today I decided to go for it.
This truck has 800 miles on it. It seems to run fine. Plenty of power and initial indications are that mileage around 17 city driving. There is about .5 to 1 inch of play in the gas pedal before excelleration begins. No big deal once you get use to it.
Now here is my question...
This truck has not been re-flashed yet. The dealer was having trouble with their system so could not do it today. Because it runs good should I get the new flash? It sounds like your experience is that it made a good running truck even better. Would that be accurate?
I drove from Tx. to Ga. preflash and had no mechanical or performance problems at all. My friend that works at the dealership where I bought my truck and service it told me the new flash made great even better. I trust him so I did it and my post above details the results I got.
I have read some other opinions that aren't as pleased (in this thread and others). I'm headed to New Mexico in the morning, I'll put about 2,500 miles in the next week in highway and light off road conditions. How bout I report back on performance when I return? We should get a good comparison. Preflash to Ga. Post flash to New Mex. I'll post the performance charactoristics of both trips when I get home.....Lucky

Old item, the slip spline on the drive shaft is most likely dry, needs some grease. There was an OASIS item on it some months ago.
