Has anybody noticed that all of the "hey I just got reflashed and it's great" comments are coming from new users? I'm waiting to hear from a “Tim Lamkin” or a “King Ranch” - type user to get in this issue. No offense intended to the new guys... there may be spies among us. Yeah, I’m paranoid…

Well,
mines getting done as we speak and I'll post my results tomorrow after I pick it up...
And I know of what I speak - haven't had the real problems...
My worst problem was the Mid-June flash to fix my dead pedal and it took 3 mpg and 15 or 20% of my power.... So I basically had nothing to lose...

We'll see...

I do take offense to your comments. What *#$^ing good would a spy among you do. I took delivery of my truck Dec 02 and have been fighting problems since mid Feb and was extremely happy when I finally have a $43K truck that works. I've been registered for quite a while but haven't made alot of posts, I post when something happens, good or bad. I work and don't play with a keyboard all day otherwise I wouldn't be a "New User".

magl…….hold on there cowboy no need to take offence. WE are all in the same boat, LOVE the truck but despise the possibility of having problems. Do not for a minute think that there is not the possibility of having some one (from another camp) come on type a few words that are not true in nature. This is a big business we are playing in, huge market shares and all that sort of bottom line thing; it has in the past and probably will in the future bring out ground crawlers in society. So keep us up to date on your success and if ya have failures let, all the readers try to help.

and type more its good for the sole.......

Debug………how ya doing bud.

Now on to re-flash, honestly I am terrified to have it done. The engineer side of me says (and I understand) that the next gen software is always better than the last. It is only logical that the smart folks at Ford are working day and night on upgrades to our systems, problem I see….it is a combination of soft and firm ware, that is problematic. Point made: the after market pedal, pots that are more sensitive are now working to take out lazy pedal, hate that when it happens…but Ford cannot and will not go out and make a sweeping change, i.e. total recall on pedal assemblies, has to do with that bottom line thing…………so when one is working leave it alone. Even if your just dying to try the latest flash…………………but I will not, until I absolutely need it.

I had the re-flash done Wednesday and all is well with the truck. Idle is very stable, no smoke on warm start, good power off the line (I am not a drag racer, they may still complain). I would get the re-flash folks!

I had the new flash done yesterday, works great. The tech expalined the changes to me. The new flash makes the engine start slower, i.e. holds up the fuel injectors from firing until the oil pressure increases enough to atomize the fuel properly. Smooth idle, great throttle response right from startup.

Got the new reflash today. No more rough idle, good throttle response, crisp shifts. The only problem I ever had was the rough idle at start up but the truck seems more responsive now than before. They changed out the ICP sensor and gave me a free oil change too. I don't think you can go wrong with this reflash

mag1, do you remember our previous moderator? He had to stop because Ford threatened to fire him over his work he was doing on this forum.

Do you think all of the many posts about problems and ineffective flashes have caused Ford any business?

I’m happy your recent flash is working for you. Please continue to keep us posted.

By the way, I expect most all of us on this forum work for a living more than play with keyboards.

I got the flash on acount of a dead pedal after truck sat about 10 hours. After turning off and then back on the problem solved.
Now after fash, truck is a little quicker but at the cost of a louder engine. I also noticed more vibration at idle. Their is a very strong diesel smell that wasn't there before. If I had it to do all over again-I wouldn't!!!

I had the reflash done on 10/6. It is NOT a cure all. The motor now revs a little higher on start-up, then returns to normal. Big puff of smoke is gone at start-up, but still small puff of white smoke now. After warm engine start, exhaust just plain stinks. I believe a rich idle condition. This is not the final flash from ford. A lot of the fixes they have are screwing up some other part of the puzzle.

In other words, if your truck runs good, leave it alone.
