From 1989-1994 an automatic IDI could have either a C6 or an E4OD. The C6 is a three speed, the E4OD is a four speed.
Also, two wheel drive and four wheel drive transmissions have an important difference. The output shafts and extension housings are different. You can easily swap the extension housings, but to swap the output shafts requires a complete teardown of the transmission. Once it is completely apart, you start rebuilding the trans with the correct output shaft.

thanks for the input. not really worth it to buy then. Guy wanted $1500 two wheel 140 miles. It looked like the od light didnt go on or off. I kinda got the feeling it was in limp mode. And buddy pulled the fuse for od? I'm not sure trany fluid was a lil dirty but not that bad still red.
That usually means the computer isn't getting power. It doesn't mean there is a transmission problem.

There is no fuse for OD. OD isn't a separate circuit. There is a fuse for the computer, though. Pulling that fuse will put the trans in limp mode and keep the OD OFF light from coming on.

the only gear it would move in idle was reverse in drive 3500 rpm before it would start moving. Felt like limp mode. Would it be worth buying at a good price. Like how much would 2x4 be worth? All right shape overall. Some rust around back quarter panels. I was hoping i coukd just flip the trany from it throw it mine then get mine rebuilt. Thanks for all the knowledge. Much appreciated

It probably just needs the electrical fixed. Odds are, the trans is ok if you have 2nd gear in both manual 1 and 2 positions. It's in OD in the D position without the trans getting power.

Limp mode is when the trans only uses certain gears because the PCM knows that some gears are not working.
If you had it at 3500 RPM for more than one second trying to get it to move you absolutely destroyed the forward clutch. This trans is done. It has to be rebuilt or replaced.

2x4's go for less than $5 at the local lumberyard.
A 4x4 truck is worth much more than that, but I don't keep up with used truck prices.

This trans is not OK. it may have been, but revving to 3500 RPM to get it to move destroyed the forward clutch. Nothing electrical can fix that.

But there's that magic in a can that'll put the clutch material back on the discs. ;o) J/K
