Based on what I'm reading here, I really regret not having this engine. Would be perfect for my uses (I never liked the 6.2's performance).

Jealous for the new 7.3L owners!

I would of thought it would of beat the 6.2 by more than it did with TQ and HP to the rear wheels
16 HP and 20 TQ seems anemic for the price. Plus the mpg isn't anything to brag about. I average 16 with the truck in my signature on the highway running 70 mph.

I'm impressed with those numbers, especially for a medium duty engine.

I would like to see a mileage comparison to the 6.2 with both running at Max GVWR. I would bet the 7.3 will be better. Stoichiometric fueling makes a big difference.

I'm seeing 18hp-48ft/lb?

Ford never claimed, nor developed the 7.3 to be a hp optimized motor. Torque and longevity were the goals.

As far as "for the price" less than $2,000 for even the numbers you stated is a bargain on a modern motor.

So the 6.7 has about 100 more rwhp than the 7.3 but is only rated for 45 more crank HP? What gives?

Subscribing. Without getting too involved, what is Stoichiometric fueling? Thanks.

I thought 7th gear was 1:1 for all versions of the 10 speed? Am I wrong? Could be why the HP is showing so much lower than the 6.7 since the 6.7 dyno was done in 7th.

Disappointingly small difference between the new 7.3L and the 6.2L.

Doubtful this first test is a true to apples to apples comparison. I wonder if the 6.2 truck was trying to spin 35” tires?

This engine is made to work and run under load reliably all day - anyone disappointed that it's not a Dyno Queen is missing the point.

The test gives us an idea of the delta between the two engines. That delta is disappointingly small for the difference in displacement.

Well said sir, i have been doing this a long time (look at my sign up date) , a dyno number is just that , the whole point of this thread is to do our best to compare apples and apples, factors between vehicles vary a lot , axle, tire size , rpm that which it makes peak power, gear ratio , coolant temp , ambient temps, fuel octane , learned octane ratio, fuel delays , and CAT temp protections in stock form, the list just go's on . i would agree with most yea i wanted more but i am excited to see what tuning will do , but in stock form today this is the best we could get with this truck and hitting the 95 mph limiter , it will only run to about 3900 rpm in 7 th gear ..before hitting stock MPH limiter , I am just glad Ford seen the need to improved with a new engine and an awesome 10 speed transmission this combo will tow and run well both in stock form and tuned form. I hope all of you have a great Holiday we are glad to be part of the FTE forum for this many years.
