I'm also curious how much over head GM left with that 6.6

It seems like the 7.3 has a ton of potential, considering it's output vs size. With the displacement considerably smaller are they really going to be able to do much bumping in power and keeping reliability on the 6.6? It's already DI after all with those numbers

Not as much room as the 7.3L. But they still have 10 speed to add in couple years. Around same time Ford will either add DI or give it a bump and our threads will continue... lol GM seems content not to have best in class gas offering. Diesel they try harder.

Yup, you know Ford designed the motor to get hp and torque bumps every year. One review of the cut away engine a guy noticed it looked like there was already a hole there for direct injection. In a few years they will probably go DI and port. Some manufacturers are doing both now. I am very curious to see the bump in power just from a 5star tune. I wont do it for warentee but it will give an idea what Ford can get out of the engine. Plus, the way this lower end is built, you know at some point its getting a blower. Everything is forged and cross bolt mains.

Looked in the Ford builder site and the 2020 Lariat comes standard with the 6.2, but only with the 6 spd trans, to get the 10 spd you must also get the 7.3 or 6.7

I think to get the ten speed with the 6.2 you need to build a F350.

I know the big thing with blowers is the heat they generate.

With today's methods/technology could a factory blown engine meant for the duty of towing heavy be built to last reliably?

I'm looking forward to seeing what 5star can get out of this motor as well. I'm ready to get away from my diesel, and I love how stout this engine is built. I think it can handle much more power, and it looks like it is pretty detuned from the factory. I could care less about the warranty. If the second oil change looks good then it's time to modify. I just want to enjoy whatever I'm driving.

Yes, yes, and Supercharger please.

the way it's built and since it will be in so many applications, I am certain whipple and procharger will both have something out eventually.

Does the 7.3 have torque managment programmed in and if it does can it be turned completely off with a tune?

the way the dyno chart looks, I'm guessing it does. On the '18 and up f150's there were big gains just from raising the allowed torque to be demanded to max values. Somewhat like turning it off.

the 6.6 will likely have an advantage when forced induction is added due to the DI being able to ward off knock better. just look at the 18 and up 5.0's. Either engine should be able to handle enough to make a large truck fun to drive and traction obsolete.
